In a colorful room, Nguyen Hai Phong, an 8G student at Tan Binh Secondary School (Le Thanh Nghi Ward), is enthusiastically completing his new painting. Each brush stroke and color block depicts a familiar image of his hometown, the river, the roof, and the ripe rice fields. That passion helped Phong win the excellent prize in the "I paint the colors of my homeland" contest organized by the Central Council of Young Pioneers. For the 14-year-old student, it is a reward for his efforts in training and a motivation to continue pursuing his artistic path.

Ms. Ly Thi Thanh Nga, an art teacher at Tan Binh Secondary School, said: “Phong has had talent since childhood, especially in the ability to perceive and combine colors. His family has created conditions for him to attend drawing classes during the summer, four sessions a week, to further hone his skills and creativity.”
Not only Hai Phong, Tan Binh Secondary School is also the place to discover and nurture many students who have achieved high achievements in art competitions. Among them are Bui Thi Phuong Linh, who won first prize nationwide in the "I draw volunteer colors" contest; Tran Thuan Phong, second prize in the "Uncle Ho with children - Children with Uncle Ho" contest. In 2023, the two brothers Thuan Phong also won 3 prizes at the "Vietnam - Cuba Children Solidarity" contest. "The school always encourages and creates conditions for students to develop their talent in painting. Each prize is a source of encouragement for students to be more confident and love this subject more," Ms. Nga added.
Not only in schools, the children's art movement in Hai Phong is developing vigorously with the participation of many units, from the City Literature and Arts Association, Youth Union and Young Pioneer organizations, educational institutions to clubs and private art centers.

Every summer, the Hai Phong Literature and Arts Association regularly opens art training classes for primary and secondary school students. Here, students are guided by artists in composition skills, color coordination, and expression on many materials such as oil paint, pencil, and wax. At the same time, students are also given comments and corrections on each stroke, and encouraged to create according to their own feelings. The classes also organize practical activities, sketching at famous places, visiting exhibitions, and traditional lacquer workshops, helping students gain more experience and creative emotions.
From the classes, many young talents are discovered and encouraged to develop. The 2025 National Children's Painting Exhibition hosted in Hai Phong is a clear demonstration of the city's children's art movement. More than 300 paintings selected from all over the country bring a space full of childhood colors.

In children's art classes, teachers encourage students to be creative, not copying sample paintings but choosing their own composition and color combinations based on their own feelings. As a result, each painting has its own personality, pure, innocent and full of emotions.
Through classes and competitions, students not only discover their talents but also practice aesthetic and creative thinking, form a positive lifestyle and love of art.
