The Dutch star has 18 months remaining on his contract with Liverpool. Following the shocking announcement from his German manager, Van Dijk is also uncertain about his own future.
When asked if he would be part of the next era at Anfield, once Klopp leaves the club, Van Dijk replied:
"That's a big question. I don't know anymore. Liverpool have a huge amount of work ahead of them to replace not just the head coach but the entire staff and coaching team. There will be a lot of changes."
I'm curious to see how things unfold. Once that's announced, we'll assess our situation. For now, I can't say much more.
Clearly, this marks the end of the Jurgen Klopp era. I'm happy to still be a part of it.
Hopefully Liverpool will achieve the success we dream of at the end of the season. At that point, there will be more information about what the club wants in the future. Then we will consider making a decision."
In addition to manager Jurgen Klopp, several other key figures are also preparing to leave Anfield, including sporting director Jorg Schmadtke and his assistants Pep Lijnders, Peter Krawietz, and Vitor Matos.
Van Dijk added: "Of course, things will change at the end of the season, but not yet, so we have to continue to play together."
Easier said than done, but I feel the rest of the players think the same way. My job is to ensure everything is stable and on the right track."
