This land has rivers, seas, mountains, forests, lakes… Many historical landmarks have been featured in films and poetry.
We visited the Thang Binh District Party Committee base (1964-1975) - a provincial-level historical site located in Linh Cang village, a fortified area of Binh Phu commune.
To reach the historical site, one must follow the road around Phuoc Ha Lake. Visitors will experience the atmosphere of the forests – places that once sheltered generations of revolutionary activists. Swinging in a hammock under the forest canopy, listening to the sound of the stream and birdsong…
Not far from the Thang Binh District Party Committee base, there is a road branching off to Ho Thac. Ho Thac is nearly 3km long, with its peak in Tien Son commune, Tien Phuoc district, and sloping down to Linh Cang village, Binh Phu commune.
As the name suggests, the sinkhole extends from the mountaintop downwards, forming pools of water. The enormous, jagged rocks—perhaps nature stacked them on top of each other to make this place so unique?
Along with pristine waterfalls, the surrounding forest is cool and refreshing. Standing on this mountaintop, you can admire the entire expanse of Phuoc Ha Lake, with its vast rice fields ripening to a golden yellow. The lake's surface is calm and still.
On the green lawn by the lake, visitors can enjoy watching the sunrise and sunset. It's a feeling of being closest to nature that everyone wants to experience.
In this area, locals have also built thatched huts and roadside stalls as resting places for tourists. On weekends, bringing a chair or sitting on the grass with your loved one, enjoying a cup of coffee, chatting, or reading a book… is an indescribable feeling.
People are familiar with La Nga - Cao Ngan and Dong Tien lakes, but few know about Phuoc Ha lake. This is the largest irrigation reservoir in western Thang Binh, stretching across many villages of Binh Phu commune, and is the source of freshwater for the western Thang Binh area.
Previously, access to this place was extremely difficult. In 2023, when Binh Phu became an advanced new rural commune, the road, built through the efforts of the local people, was completed. Today, visitors can easily enjoy the scenery around Phuoc Ha Lake.
The locals welcome guests as if they were returning family. Many local specialties are served, from rock snails and free-range chicken to fern shoots and grilled fish. These dishes are made from ingredients the locals themselves, either grown in the rocky crevices or caught from the lake.
This holiday season, why not explore Binh Phu with your loved ones – the place where "golden flowers bloom on green grass"?
