
From the very first meters of the water, the two Vietnamese athletes established a lead and maintained a safe distance from their Thai opponents. With a convincing performance, Nguyen Thi Huong and Diep Thi Huong crossed the finish line first, bringing home the first gold medal for the Vietnamese sports delegation in Thailand.
Sharing their thoughts after finishing first, the two athletes said: “We are very happy with the result and wish the Vietnamese Sports Delegation continued success in the remaining events.”
Upon receiving the good news, the Head of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation, Nguyen Hong Minh, awarded a bonus of 10 million VND for the first gold medal won by the Vietnamese Sports Delegation.
Earlier, the 500m mixed double kayak event also yielded positive results when Vo Duy Thanh and Do Thi Thanh Thao won a Silver Medal, finishing only behind Singapore. This achievement contributed to a favorable psychological boost before the women's double canoe event continued to make its mark.
