On March 7, 2025, the Government issued Resolution No. 44 on visa exemption for citizens of 12 countries, including the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland.
Accordingly, citizens holding passports from the above 12 countries are allowed to stay in Vietnam for 45 days from the date of entry, regardless of passport type or purpose of entry, on the basis of meeting the entry conditions as prescribed by Vietnamese law. This is the latest move by the Government on visa relaxation policy to support and stimulate tourism.
Previously, in early 2025, citizens of three countries including Poland, Czech Republic and Switzerland were also unilaterally exempted from visas from March 1 to December 31, 2025.
With the Government's favorable visa policies for tourists, it promises to bring "breakthroughs" in attracting foreign visitors to Vietnam, including Quang Nam .
With the advantages of heritage and geographical location, in recent years, the proportion of international visitors to Quang Nam has always accounted for 50 - 60% of the total number of visitors and stays. In particular, Hoi An and My Son have become favorite destinations for international visitors, especially visitors from Europe, North America and Australia.
In addition to the value of the two ancient urban heritages of Hoi An and My Son, Quang Nam also possesses many advantages in terms of culture, craft villages, landscapes, and unique nature. At the same time, with its location near Da Nang International Airport, having a seaport and Chu Lai Airport along with a convenient road infrastructure system; diverse products and services; effective promotion and advertising programs... the number of international visitors to Quang Nam is constantly increasing.
In 2024, Quang Nam will welcome about 8 million visitors, including 5.5 million international visitors. In 2025, Quang Nam aims to welcome 8.4 million visitors, including 5.7 million international visitors.
Mr. Van Ba Son - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism commented that Resolution No. 44 of the Government not only creates many advantages for tourists when traveling to Vietnam because they have more time to explore new lands, but also brings many expectations, helping Quang Nam realize the planned goals, especially in attracting traditional tourist markets from Europe and North America.
