Profound cultural beauty

The Nhật Tân communal house was formerly called Nhật Chiêu temple, but during the reign of Emperor Khải Định, it was renamed Nhật Tân. The communal house is dedicated to Đức Thánh Uy Đô Đại Vương Trần Linh Lang (Uy Linh Lang), the son of Empress Minh Đức. Uy Linh Lang was renowned for his intelligence and mastery of both literature and martial arts, his fame spreading far and wide.

During the reign of Emperor Tran Nhan Tong, the Mongol invaders, led by General Toa Do, sent 400,000 troops to attack our country. Uy Linh Lang submitted a petition to his father, the Emperor, requesting permission to fight the invaders and wrote a proclamation calling for support, which was enthusiastically received by the people. Uy Linh Lang formed an army called the "Son of Heaven's Army," advanced against the Mongol forces, and achieved a great victory.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong presented the certificate recognizing Nhat Tan Temple Festival as a national intangible cultural heritage to the leaders and people of Nhat Tan ward.

After the invaders were defeated, the king bestowed upon Uy Linh Lang the title of Dam Dam Dai Vuong (Great King of Ho Tay). Uy Linh Lang died at noon on August 8th, 1300 (the year of Canh Ty). Out of grief, the king ordered the construction of a temple at the site of Uy Linh Lang's death for the people to worship and offer incense. It was called Nhat Chieu Temple, and he was granted the title of Hien Minh Duc. To commemorate Uy Linh Lang's contributions, the people of Nhat Tan village hold a ceremony on the 10th day of the 2nd lunar month every year.

The traditional Nhat Tan communal house festival is a deeply rooted cultural beauty associated with Vietnamese folk culture. The recognition of the festival as a national intangible cultural heritage not only honors the silent and persistent efforts of the local community in preserving and promoting the value of this heritage, but also fosters the responsibility of transmitting and practicing this heritage in contemporary life, continuing to safeguard the beauty of Vietnamese culture.
