Quynh Son village is located in the middle of the green Bac Son valley, with limestone mountains stretching up and down. This place not only has beautiful wild natural scenery, but is also a living cultural treasure of the Tay people, a place to preserve memories, a "living museum" of Tay culture in the middle of the mountainous region; with the melodious sounds of Tinh zither, the soulful Then singing and the stilt houses with yin-yang tiles that have existed for hundreds of years.
Like Lo Lo Chai village in Tuyen Quang province, Quynh Son village has been officially honored by the United Nations Tourism Organization as “The best tourist village in the world in 2025”. With more than 90% of the population being Tay people, Quynh Son still retains its traditional cultural values: from language, costumes, festivals to housing architecture.
Currently, Quynh Son village has more than 400 stilt houses, most of which still retain the traditional architecture with ironwood frames, yin-yang tiled roofs and shiny wooden floors. All face the same direction to the South, with their backs to the mountains and their faces to the fields. Mr. Duong Dinh Sung, an elder in the village, said: People in Quynh Son believe that the direction of the houses here always receives the early morning sunlight, avoids the wind, brings health, fortune and harmony to the descendants.
Not only a tourist destination, Quynh Son is also a symbol of harmony between people and nature. Visitors to Quynh Son can both enjoy the scenery and experience and immerse themselves in the rustic life: Stay overnight in traditional stilt houses, make corn wine, pound black banh chung, catch stream fish, go down to the fields to plant rice, weave cloth; or sing Then with the locals, dance Sli in the flickering firelight and especially enjoy the highland dishes full of identity.
The whole space is like a peaceful picture, where time seems to slow down so that each person can touch the rhythm of the local culture, a precious asset that the people here have preserved for many years. Through that, one can fully feel the breath of the Northeastern mountains and forests.

In particular, at the beginning of each spring, the whole village enthusiastically organizes the Long Tong festival - a ceremony to pray for favorable weather and bountiful crops. This is also an occasion for boys and girls in the village to sing Then and Sli songs, and get married amidst the brilliant pink peach blossoms all over the Bac Son hills. There is another special thing in this village, which just hearing it makes visitors curious: "Everyone in the village has the surname Duong, but boys and girls can still get married."
The elders in the village said that, although they all have the surname Duong, but they have different branches such as Duong Dinh, Duong Doan, Duong Cong, they can marry each other. Indeed, this is a unique village, all of them are Duong, but still maintain their own characteristics, harmony in cultural life and customs. The people here are gentle, close-knit, hard-working, still maintaining the traditional lifestyle through many generations. The people also preserve folk knowledge, ancient architecture and the natural environment. Each house, each stream, each festival tells a story about humanity, about attachment, about national pride.
