In the exciting atmosphere of the 2025-2026 winter-spring potato crop, PepsiCo Foods Company and farmers participating in the PepsiCo sustainable potato value chain in Vietnam are proud to share about the PepsiCo Global Farmers Awards 2025.

This is the first time the Award was held at PepsiCo's headquarters in New York (USA) in late October 2025, to honor the "silent heroes" in creating and maintaining the global food system. The event recognized nearly 60 typical farmers and experts from 19 countries, including two farmers from Vietnam.

With extremely convincing and proud achievements, two Vietnamese female farmers were recognized and honored at the PepsiCo Global Farmer Awards 2025 for their pioneering efforts in regenerative agriculture and creating positive impacts for the community.

As one of the world's leading food and beverage corporations with an agricultural development background - PepsiCo purchases more than 50 types of crops and food ingredients in more than 60 countries, including potatoes in Vietnam.

The award is a milestone demonstrating PepsiCo's strong commitment to promoting regenerative agriculture, while affirming the important role of farmers in realizing the pep+ (PepsiCo Positive) strategy - a comprehensive transformation model that puts sustainable development at the center of business strategy, aiming for growth and a sustainable future for businesses and communities.

“Our business starts with farmers, who are the heart of our supply chain and the foundation of our global food system. This award celebrates their contributions, inspires innovation, and works together to create a more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive agricultural system,” said Ramon Laguarta, PepsiCo Chairman and CEO.

The awards ceremony was the highlight of a three-day event in New York that included panel discussions and a “Taste & Tell Expo” exhibition about the journey from farm to product. It also gave farmers from many countries the opportunity to directly talk to PepsiCo leaders, affirming that they are at the center of the transformation of the global food system.

“This is not just an award, but a way for us to show our appreciation for those who are feeding the world and affirm our commitment to working with farmers in the context of climate change,” said Marcelo Stefani, PepsiCo’s Global Purchasing Director.

Honoring outstanding faces

Finalists were selected across six categories: Sustainability, Next Generation Agriculture, Leadership & Mentorship, Succession & Growth, Quality, and Farmer of the Year, with a balanced representation of smallholders, large-scale farms, multi-generational families, and agricultural professionals from across the globe.

From Vietnam, Ms. Tran Thi Van Anh, a potato farmer in Gia Lai province, was honored in the Next-Gen Farming category and Ms. H'Am Nie, an Ede female farmer from Dak Lak, was nominated for the Community Leadership Award.

“We are extremely proud that Van Anh and H'Am Nie have been recognized at such a prestigious global award. Their spirit of innovation, creativity and commitment to developing regenerative agriculture is a clear testament to the power of combining creativity and environmental responsibility,” said Nguyen Kim Hanh, Director of Agriculture, PepsiCo Foods Vietnam.

Van Anh - A living symbol of agricultural cultivation created by applying science and technology

Born into a farming family in Lam Dong, after many years of small-scale farming using traditional methods, Ms. Van Anh had little opportunity to expand production. The turning point came when she and her family moved to Gia Lai, where the natural conditions and land fund were suitable for developing large-scale farms to pursue her passion for applying technology to agriculture, especially sustainable potato cultivation.

Joining the potato supply chain for PepsiCo with technical support from a team of engineers, she quickly adapted and affirmed her capacity through agricultural management using technology and data.

The irrigation system is flexibly changed, optimizing the cultivation process and applying digital tools to stabilize productivity. Ms. Van Anh's farm has achieved a yield of 42 tons/ha in 2024, among the highest in PepsiCo's potato growing program in the Central Highlands region, while optimally controlling the amount of irrigation water and pesticides thanks to the application of precision agriculture science.

Currently, Van Anh is the manager of PepsiCo's model potato farm in Gia Lai, and also helps guide and support many young farmers who want to access modern farming techniques, contributing to the realization of PepsiCo's long-term vision of developing a generation of farmers with a vision of innovation and sustainability.

H'Âm Nie - The journey of "escaping the cocoon" of dependence on slash-and-burn farming to leading sustainable farming

In Dak Lak, Ms. H'Am Nie, an Ede ethnic, has changed her life and that of many others thanks to sustainable potato farming. Starting her farming career in 2017, H'Am Nie has gradually accumulated experience, improved her skills and confidently become one of the typical farmers of the sustainable agriculture program implemented by PepsiCo.

With her perseverance in learning and applying new methods, the potato yield on H'Am Nie's family's farm has increased from 16 tons to 25 tons/ha. Not only that, she is also an example to help many ethnic minority women boldly participate in agricultural production. In recognition of those efforts, H'Am Nie was nominated for the Community Leadership Award at the PepsiCo Global Farmer Awards 2025, sharing: "Start by learning from experienced people, practice through practice and then stand on your own two feet."

With support from her family, Ms. H'Am Nie and her husband are continuing to accompany, share experiences and spread effective and sustainable farming models to other farming households, contributing to creating positive changes in the agricultural community in the Central Highlands.

Going further with pep+ strategy on Active Agriculture in Vietnam

The 2025 PepsiCo Global Farmer Awards ceremony comes just months after PepsiCo raised its goals under the pep+ strategy with the Positive Agriculture pillar. As of 2024, PepsiCo will have implemented these practices on more than 3.5 million hectares of land, aiming for 10 million hectares by 2030.

In Vietnam, PepsiCo is working with She Feeds the World (SFtW) and CARE, USAID-Resonance (GDA), Investing in Women to Strengthen Agricultural Supply Chains (DAI), and other partners to transform and improve potato farming, moving towards a more sustainable and inclusive agriculture.

Since 2008, PepsiCo Foods Vietnam has developed a domestic potato material area in Lam Dong, from 4 households cultivating 27 hectares with a yield of 8 tons/ha to more than 2,500 households on nearly 2,000 hectares, providing about 42,000 tons of potatoes per year by 2025. The average yield has tripled, reaching 23-26 tons/ha, higher than the level of Thailand, Indonesia, etc. At the same time, the program helps save about 3,741 m³ of water/ha and in 2024 alone, it is estimated to have saved more than 5 million m³ of water, contributing to reducing erosion and improving soil quality.

Thanks to the policy of supporting local farmers in growing commercial potatoes for production, thousands of farmers in the Central Highlands and Northern provinces have guaranteed income and health safety for themselves, their families and the surrounding environment.
