Regarding the incident of an ambulance driver charging 21 million VND for a 200km patient transport distance, on September 5, Bac Ninh General Hospital No. 1, Bac Giang Ward, Bac Ninh Province held a Disciplinary Council meeting.
Based on the Council's recommendations and disciplinary records, the Director of Bac Ninh General Hospital No. 1 issued disciplinary decisions in the form of dismissal for 2 employees and warning for 1 official.
Specifically, based on the minutes of the Disciplinary Council meeting, the Director of Bac Ninh General Hospital No. 1 decided to discipline by dismissal the driver Vu Van Giap (born in 1984, a contract driver under the Administrative Management Department) for asking the patient's family to pay for transportation costs without a clear agreement and nurse Nguyen Van Thang (born in 1991, a contract employee under the Intensive Care - Anti-Poison Department) for receiving costs higher than the agreed level.
Both of these behaviors have an impact on the whole society, causing public outrage and damaging the reputation of the unit.
In addition, the Director of Bac Ninh General Hospital No. 1 decided to discipline nurse Nguyen Thi Thiu (born in 1995, nurse, officer of the Department of Intensive Care - Anti-Poison) with a warning for not performing her duties properly according to regulations, agreeing on service fees to support medical staff with patients outside of hospital service costs, having an impact outside the internal scope, causing bad public opinion among the people, and reducing the reputation of the unit.
Previously, on the afternoon of August 25, information appeared on social networks reflecting that a driver collected 21 million VND for a 200km journey from Bac Ninh General Hospital No. 1 to Hop Luc commune (Thai Nguyen province).
Immediately after the incident was reported, the Board of Directors of Bac Ninh General Hospital No. 1 directed relevant departments to urgently investigate.
Through the verification process, the working group determined that driver Giap arbitrarily collected 21 million VND in compensation and patient transportation fees, of which he gave nurse Thang 4 million VND, saying it was additional compensation; and kept 17 million VND.
Driver Giap then transferred 16 million VND to the patient's family./.
