
On the afternoon of December 14th, Deputy Director of the Quang Ngai Provincial Department of Health, Do Ngoc Hoa, visited and encouraged patients suffering from suspected food poisoning from eating Hong Van bread who are currently being treated at the hospital. He also requested Quang Ngai General Hospital, Phuc Hung Private General Hospital, and other medical facilities to focus resources and actively treat the patients so that they can recover quickly and be discharged to return home.
According to the patients' statements to the authorities, from 3 PM on December 11th to the morning of December 13th, they purchased and consumed sandwiches from Hong Van sandwich shops located on Huynh Thuc Khang Street (Ngoc Bao Vien area, Nghia Lo ward), Quang Trung Street (near Trung Tam Hotel, Cam Thanh ward), 1156 Quang Trung Street (Cam Thanh ward), and 47 Tran Hung Dao Street (Cam Thanh ward), as well as several other Hong Van sandwich shops.

By 5 PM on December 11th, the first patient exhibited symptoms of abdominal pain, frequent diarrhea, vomiting, high fever, and headache. Subsequently, the remaining patients, also experiencing similar symptoms, went to Phuc Hung Private General Hospital, Quang Ngai General Hospital, and Quang Ngai Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital for emergency care and treatment.
After being admitted to the hospital, the patients underwent tests and received intensive treatment from the medical team, and their condition is now stable.
Upon receiving reports of a food poisoning incident, the Quang Ngai Provincial Department of Health directed the Quang Ngai Provincial Food Safety Sub-Department to coordinate with the Provincial Center for Disease Control, the Quang Ngai Provincial Health Center, the Cam Thanh Ward People's Committee, the Chanh Lo Health Station, the Nguyen Nghiem Health Station, the Quang Ngai Provincial Police, the Cam Thanh Ward Police, Phuc Hung Private General Hospital, Quang Ngai General Hospital, and the Quang Ngai Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital to investigate and gather information to determine the cause of the food poisoning.
Following the inspection, the People's Committee of Cam Thanh Ward sealed all remaining food samples at the business stalls and at 280 Nguyen Nghiem Street, Cam Thanh Ward; and requested the Hong Van bread stalls to temporarily cease business pending the conclusion of the investigation by the relevant authorities.
Simultaneously, the Quang Ngai Provincial Center for Disease Control collected 17 food samples from business stalls and at 280 Nguyen Nghiem Street, Cam Thanh Ward; and collected 6 specimens for testing to determine the cause of the food poisoning.
