On the afternoon of September 24, the People's Committee of Chanh Hiep Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, organized a mediation session for a case of house construction on someone else's land that occurred on DX066 Street in the ward (Dinh Hoa Ward, Thu Dau Mot City, former Binh Duong Province).

At the end of the working session, the leader of the People's Committee of Chanh Hiep ward informed Tuoi Tre Online that the two sides had reached an agreement to hire a service company ("genie") to move the house and return the premises to the landowner within 45 days.

At the beginning of the meeting, Tuoi Tre Online noted, Mr. Th. (the homeowner) was present. Mr. Th. is living here and said this is his house, and his sister is only the registered owner. The owner of the land that was mistakenly built on, Ms. Vo Thu Thao (33 years old, from Vinh Long province), also confirmed to attend the mediation session.

The leaders of the People's Committee of Chanh Hiep ward organized a mediation between the two sides, the press did not attend.

Speaking to the press before going to work, Mr. Th. said that his wish at the mediation session was to move his house to its correct location. Mr. Th. said that because his land area was larger than Mrs. Thao's, he had spent a large amount of money to buy the land and build a house, so by the time he worked at the ward, he did not want to swap the land anymore, but only wanted to move his house to its correct location.

Mr. Th. said he had worked with the "genie" and was quoted more than 200 million VND to relocate his house, the relocation time was about 1 to 2 months. Mr. Th. hoped the local government and the landowner would accept his relocation plan.

Previously, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , the leader of the People's Committee of Chanh Hiep Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, said that he had conducted a field survey and sent invitations to two households in the case of "mistakenly building a house on someone else's land".

In the petition sent to the People's Committee of Chanh Hiep Ward, Ms. Vo Thu Thao also said that she and her husband bought plot 813, map sheet 82 on DX066 Street, area 71.4m2 since 2024. On June 14, 2025, when her family came to check the land to prepare to build a house, they discovered that the neighbor had built a house on their land.

Discovering the incident, Ms. Thao discussed with her neighbor (the person who built the wrong building) to find a solution.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh (55 years old) was the one who negotiated with Ms. Thao. After many discussions, both sides came up with solutions but all failed. Ms. Hanh then asked for 3 weeks to move the house that was mistakenly built on Ms. Thao's land.

However, after many promises, Ms. Hanh still has not moved, so on September 17, Ms. Thao's family sent a letter to the person who built the wrong house, requesting that the land be returned to her family immediately.
