Commendation for teacher Nguyen Tu Cuong for winning gold medal at World Vovinam Championship

The ceremony to honor teacher Nguyen Tu Cuong took place after the flag-raising ceremony at the beginning of the week at Binh Chanh Sports Gifted High School. Attending the ceremony were leaders of Binh Loi commune, school leaders, more than 70 teachers and 1,350 students.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong Thao - Vice Chairman of Binh Loi Commune People's Committee - said that in the joyful and proud atmosphere celebrating the 43rd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 - November 20, 2025), Binh Loi Commune People's Committee honored Mr. Nguyen Tu Cuong - an exemplary teacher who brought glory to the country, to the school and to his hometown Binh Loi.

On November 4, at the 8th World Vovinam Championship held in Bali, Indonesia, teacher Nguyen Tu Cuong excellently won the gold medal, bringing great honor to Vietnamese Vovinam, to Ho Chi Minh City, and especially to Binh Chanh Sports Gifted High School - where he is teaching and training generations of gifted students of the school.

"Looking at Mr. Cuong's example, we can see that success does not come from luck, but from will, passion, and the spirit of never giving up, whether in the field of study. Each student - in sports or in art - can become the pride of their school, their family, and their hometown, if they have enough determination and aspiration to excel like Mr. Cuong," Ms. Thao said at the commendation ceremony.

Mr. Duong Hoai Bao - Principal - said that when he received the news that teacher Nguyen Tu Cuong won the gold medal at the 2025 World Vovinam Championship in Indonesia, he and the teachers were very happy and excited.

According to him, Mr. Cuong is a very good coach in professional work, a teacher with a good foundation in physical education and pedagogy. The gold medal that Mr. Cuong won is not only a personal honor, but also brings great honor to the school and Binh Loi commune. This achievement is even more meaningful when the commune has just opened the Commune Sports Festival, adding to the joy of the locality.

"I would like to tell the students of the school, especially the gifted students and the students in the school's Vovinam team, to look at the example of Mr. Cuong to strive to study and practice so that in the future they can contribute to the overall achievements of the school, Ho Chi Minh City, and Binh Loi commune," said Mr. Bao.

Teacher Nguyen Tu Cuong said that the 8th World Vovinam Championship in 2025 will have the participation of athletes from 26 countries from 4 continents: Asia, Europe, Africa, and Oceania. "I competed on the first day so I felt a bit pressured. Thanks to my training efforts and the encouragement from the coaching staff, I completed the assigned task well," he shared.

Mr. Cuong added that before winning the gold medal at the 2025 World Vovinam Championship, he had won gold medals at national championships for many consecutive years, the National Sports Congress in 2022; gold medal at the 2023 World Vovinam Championship; silver medal at the 32nd SEA Games in 2023; silver medal at the 2023 Southeast Asian Vovinam Championship; gold medal at the 2024 Asian Vovinam Championship.
