Fostering friendship and elevating relations between the two Parties and countries of Vietnam and North Korea

As the first visit to North Korea by a General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam in 18 years, General Secretary To Lam's visit was a great success, contributing to consolidating political trust and creating a strong driving force to promote relations between the two Parties and two countries to new heights.

General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, To Lam, and the high-level Vietnamese delegation successfully concluded their state visit to North Korea and attended the 80th anniversary celebration of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea, at the invitation of General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Council of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Kim Jong Un.

During General Secretary To Lam's state visit to North Korea from October 9-11, the leaders and people of North Korea extended a warm and respectful welcome to the General Secretary and the high-level Vietnamese delegation, clearly demonstrating the traditional friendship and extensive cooperation between the two Parties and two countries. General Secretary To Lam held a successful high-level meeting with General Secretary and Chairman of the State Council Kim Jong Un; attended the military parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea; laid wreaths in remembrance of North Korean leaders; and visited several cultural and historical sites.

The General Secretary and the delegation attended the inauguration ceremony of the Ho Chi Minh Monument, visited the Vietnamese Embassy in North Korea… Also on this occasion, General Secretary To Lam held meetings with leaders and heads of delegations from countries attending the 80th anniversary celebration of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea.

During General Secretary To Lam's state visit to North Korea from October 9-11, the leaders and people of North Korea extended a warm and respectful welcome to the General Secretary and the high-level Vietnamese delegation, clearly demonstrating the traditional friendship and extensive cooperation between the two Parties and two countries.

The year 2025 has been designated as the "Vietnam-North Korea Friendship Year," commemorating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (January 31, 1950 - January 31, 2025), coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea (October 10, 1945 - October 10, 2025).

Marking a special milestone in bilateral relations, General Secretary To Lam's visit further affirms Vietnam's independent, self-reliant, multilateral, diversified foreign policy, actively and proactively integrating into the international community comprehensively, deeply, and effectively; strengthening relations with traditional friendly countries, including North Korea; affirming that Vietnam always values ​​its traditional friendship with North Korea, wishes to strengthen cooperation between the two Parties and two countries, supports North Korea's development, and contributes to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.

During the talks, held in a sincere, friendly, and open atmosphere, General Secretary To Lam and General Secretary and Chairman of the State Council Kim Jong Un reviewed and expressed their appreciation for the traditional friendship between the two Parties and two countries, personally built by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kim Il Sung, and diligently nurtured, inherited, and developed by successive generations of leaders of both countries. They also recalled the tradition of selfless and sincere mutual support and assistance between the two countries during the arduous revolutionary years.

Highlighting the outstanding achievements in the construction and development of North Korea over the past 80 years under the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea, General Secretary To Lam emphasized his belief that, with the motto "putting the people first," "unity of purpose," and "self-reliance," North Korea will fulfill the tasks and goals set by the Workers' Party of Korea, ushering in a new era of comprehensive national rejuvenation and prosperity.

Chairman of the State Council Kim Jong Un emphasized that during the Vietnamese people's resistance war against foreign invaders, the Korean people considered it their own resistance war and provided selfless and unconditional support to the Vietnamese people. He also affirmed that Korea is grateful for and remembers the valuable support that the Party, State, and people of Vietnam have given to Korea in the process of building and defending the country.

Congratulating Vietnam on its tremendous achievements over the past 80 years, General Secretary and Chairman of the State Council Kim Jong Un highlighted his confidence that, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, headed by General Secretary To Lam, Vietnam will soon successfully achieve its development goals, successfully organize the 14th National Party Congress, and continue to achieve even greater successes in the development of a socialist country.

The two leaders agreed on strategic directions to inherit and promote the traditional friendship between the two Parties and countries, and to jointly advance Vietnam-North Korea relations into a new, more practical and effective stage of development, contributing to the achievement of each country's development goals, meeting the aspirations and wishes of the people of both countries, and contributing to peace, stability, and development in the region and the world.

Marking a new milestone in the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, the State visit to North Korea and participation in the 80th anniversary celebration of the Workers' Party of Korea by General Secretary To Lam and the high-level Vietnamese delegation was a resounding success, making an important contribution to further nurturing the tradition of friendship, enhancing understanding, consolidating political trust, and creating a strong impetus to promote relations between the two Parties and two countries to a new level.
