(To Quoc) - This year's chrysanthemum season in Hanoi suffered heavy damage due to Super Typhoon Yagi in September 2024. A large portion of the flower fields were flooded and destroyed; however, the few remaining chrysanthemums were enough to bring joy to the flower growers.

Despite the severe damage caused by Typhoon No. 3, joy still shines through in a few small gardens in Phu Thuong Ward, Tay Ho District.

This year, chrysanthemum growers in Hanoi suffered heavy losses due to Typhoon Yagi in September. Reporters observed that in Nhat Tan and Phu Thuong, some households with remaining small areas of chrysanthemums were busy harvesting.

Present at a chrysanthemum garden in Phu Thuong ward, Tay Ho district, Hanoi, Ms. Hai, while harvesting chrysanthemums, shared with the reporter: "This year, my house was raised with soil, so the river water couldn't flood in. Therefore, we were able to preserve the flowers and manage them out of season (covering them with plastic sheeting). Thanks to the help of fellow gardeners, my family was able to have a beautiful flower crop."

"Most of the chrysanthemum gardens in Nhat Tan and Phu Thuong villages were damaged after typhoon number 3, so the flowers are scarce. Therefore, this year, the price is more stable, and the current price is good news for the flower growers," said Ms. Hai.

Despite the crop failure, the good prices meant that farmers still had a fairly good harvest. The wholesale price of daisies ranges from 150,000 to 200,000 VND per bunch at the farm.

Chrysanthemums bloom quickly and only last for 2-3 weeks, so gardeners harvest and sell them very fast.

Visitors also shared that the price of daisies this year is higher than in previous years, and wholesale purchases are also difficult due to the scarcity of supply.

Mr. Binh, a trader in Tay Ho, said: "This year, you have to be quick to get flowers to sell because there are few flowers at the beginning of the season. I have to check prices early and contact garden owners in advance to reserve my stock."

Traders buy the produce directly from the orchards to supply to dealers.

Rare carts loaded with daisies leave Nhat Tan village for the city.

Carts selling daisies are a rare sight in Hanoi these days.

Many locals shared that to have a beautiful vase of daisies, they have to spend 200,000 to 300,000 VND.

However, many flower lovers are still willing to spend money to bring the colors of autumn flowers home.

Some people even go to the garden to have their picture taken with the flowers that signal the beginning of winter.
