
Comrade Le Van Dung was born in 1953, in Thanh Sam village, Dong Thanh commune, former Kim Dong district ( now Thanh Sam village, Nghia Dan commune), enlisted in the army in October 1971, and died on July 1, 1973. Martyr Le Van Dung's remains were buried at Huong Khe martyr cemetery ( Ha Tinh province). On December 29, 1999, the Prime Minister posthumously awarded the Certificate of Merit to martyr Le Van Dung.

In accordance with the family's wishes, the remains of martyr Le Van Dung were brought back to his hometown and buried at the martyrs' cemetery of the commune. The ceremony to receive, pay respects to and bury the remains of martyr Le Van Dung was held solemnly and in accordance with the rites. The Party Committee, the government, relatives and the local people offered incense and flowers to express their deep gratitude to martyr Le Van Dung, an outstanding son of the homeland who heroically sacrificed for the cause of national liberation and reunification.
