At the end of the year, we visited Ms. Hoang Thi My, Thai Binh ward. The "Union Shelter" house was arranged neatly and tidily, giving us a warm feeling. Ms. My works at TAV Company Limited (Nguyen Duc Canh Industrial Park, Tran Hung Dao Ward). Her family is in very difficult circumstances, her husband is a worker and had a serious work accident, she alone has to work to support the whole family. As soon as the union organization learned of her situation, it sent staff to survey, grasp the situation and work with the grassroots union and local authorities. Ms. My shared: With the support of 50 million VND from the Provincial Federation of Labor (FFL) and from friends and relatives, I have a spacious shelter to live in. I hope that people in difficult circumstances like me will not be discouraged, try to be strong, rise up in life and believe that no one is left behind.
Sharing the joy with Ms. My's family, the feeling of happiness and emotion of living in a solid house named "Union Shelter" of Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhinh, Van Xuan commune is still intact. Ms. Nhinh works as a garment worker; her husband is a freelancer, has an unstable job, poor health and often has to go to the hospital; 3 children are still young so family life is very difficult. Ms. Nhinh confided: Before, my family lived in a dilapidated level 4 house, every time there was a storm, the whole family was very worried. With the help of my parents to use the land, the Provincial Federation of Labor supported 50 million VND and support from relatives, my husband and I were able to build a new house to stabilize our lives. I am very excited and grateful for that.
As for the family of Ms. Trinh Thi Huong, a teacher at Nhat Tan Primary School (Hoang Hoa Tham Commune), after many years, the dream of having a new house has come true when her family received financial support from the Provincial Federation of Labor to build a "Trade Union Shelter". Ms. Huong happily said: Each shelter supported by the Provincial Federation of Labor shows the mutual love and affection of the trade union organization and all workers in the province for people in difficult circumstances like us. Thanks to the program, my life will be less worried and difficult every time there are storms because I have a solid house to live in.

In order to perform well the assigned tasks, trade unions at all levels in the province regularly survey and grasp the situation and needs for housing, life, employment, and income of union members and workers to promptly deploy support activities. In particular, priority is given to financial support for union members who are workers with many achievements in production, have low income, families who do not have a house or have a degraded house but do not have funds to build a new one or repair it. On that basis, organize appraisals and meetings to consider support, ensuring the right people, in accordance with regulations and achieving efficiency. The Provincial Federation of Labor has issued regulations on management and use of union shelter funds to ensure publicity, transparency, and democracy in all revenues and expenditures. From 2020 to now, the Provincial Federation of Labor has supported the repair and construction of 255 "Union shelters" with a total amount of nearly 10 billion VND. Since the beginning of the year, the Provincial Federation of Labor has supported the construction of 39 new houses for union members and workers with housing difficulties with a total amount of 1.95 billion VND. The support level has been adjusted by the Provincial Federation of Labor to suit each stage and actual conditions, contributing to better care for union members and workers.
Comrade Do Thi Huong, Vice President of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, President of the Provincial Labor Federation shared: The newly built shelters are a living proof of the motto "Where there are workers, there is the Trade Union". Seeing with our own eyes the bright smiles on the faces of the workers, the tears of gratitude and happiness of their families when moving to their new homes, every union official has the same emotion and happiness. Although the amount of support is not large, it is the sentimental hearts of the working class in the province, the concern of the trade union organization for workers with housing difficulties, helping them "settle down and have a career", have more motivation to overcome their circumstances, work and produce with peace of mind for a better life.
