Sow love from small deeds
In 2017, Ms. Dang Thi Cam Van took on the role of Head of the Women's Association of Residential Area No. 6 (Hoa Cuong Nam Ward, Hai Chau District), becoming a "flame" of inspiration with many charitable deeds. For more than two years, her house at 547 Nui Thanh has been a gathering place for people with a charitable heart to help the community. On the 15th day of each month, she and her members cook 250 free meals for disadvantaged workers. She mobilized 100% of her members to participate in the piggy bank movement and raise social security funds. The annual savings of about 15 million VND are used by the association to award the "Green Dream" scholarship, supporting livelihoods for disadvantaged women. In recent years, she has sponsored and provided financial support for Nguyen Thi Nga (same locality) until she is 18 years old. This is a case at risk of dropping out of school, orphaned by her mother, and her father has left, currently living with her grandmother. The association effectively implements patriotic emulation movements, builds cultural and civilized urban lifestyle.
Dedicated and compassionate are the compliments given by members to Ms. Bui Thi Ly, Head of Women's Association Branch No. 25 (Khue Trung Ward, Cam Le District). Implementing the "Godmother" model, she mobilized 100% of members to participate in "Raising a piggy bank" to raise funds to support Truong Khanh Bang (in the same locality) with an amount of 500,000 VND/month until she turns 18 years old. Realizing the importance of reducing plastic waste, Ms. Ly promoted and mobilized members to implement the models "Using lunch boxes to buy food instead of plastic bags" and "Women using plastic baskets when going to the market".
In addition, the association maintains the model of “Small work - big project” to collect waste and sell scrap to raise funds to give gifts to members in need. Another model initiated by her that received the agreement and positive response from members is “Used battery collection box”. This is one of the types of hazardous waste if not handled properly. The association deployed 5 battery collection boxes, conducted 3 collection rounds and handled them according to regulations.
Spread the image of kind and responsible women
Despite many difficulties in life, Ms. Tran Vu Ha Lan, a worker at Hai Chau Environmental Enterprise, always keeps a pure and honest heart and does not covet lost property. She is a single mother, renting a house in Hai Chau district, raising two young children in difficult economic conditions with a salary of nearly 7 million VND per month. However, her circumstances do not make her lose the good qualities of an honest worker. In 2024, she found property 4 times and returned it to tourists. Notably, there were 3 times when she discovered a cell phone left in the toilet on Binh Minh 6 Street. After each time like that, she proactively reported to the company's leaders to find and return it to the owner. Ms. Lan shared: "I think if you find lost property, you have to find a way to return it to the owner. If you didn't make it, you shouldn't keep it."
Implementing the emulation movement "Each member - a beautiful gesture, each organization - a meaningful action", up to now, the whole city has recorded nearly 105,000 meaningful actions, tasks, and jobs. According to the President of the City Women's Union Hoang Thi Thu Huong, the emulation movement has developed widely, becoming a driving force for women in the city to live responsibly, humanely and actively contribute to the community. Practical models such as "Raising a piggy bank of affection", "Godmother", volunteer activities, environmental protection and honesty and kindness in the lives of members have created a strong spread. In particular, there have appeared typical collectives and individuals in life, contributing to building the image of Da Nang women in the new era - kind, brave, responsible. These are the "beautiful flowers" in the emulation flower garden of the city's women, contributing to making Da Nang more livable, affectionate and civilized.
