
Over the four years of implementing the Project, fruit production in the province has seen rapid development in both quantity and quality, boosting productivity and production efficiency, contributing to the restructuring of the agricultural sector. The total area of fruit orchards in the province is estimated at 135,000 hectares (an increase of over 10,000 hectares), and fruit production is estimated at 2.5 million tons (an increase of 313,000 tons). Specifically, localities within the pilot project area for fruit tree raw material production have a total fruit tree area of nearly 107,000 hectares (an increase of 7,200 hectares compared to 2022).
Currently, farmers in the project area are actively applying scientific and technological advancements to production according to safe production processes and VietGAP standards, and establishing planting area codes to serve exports. To date, the project area in the province has been granted 371 planting area codes/42,725 hectares, with nearly 143 hectares achieving GAP certification for key crops including durian, jackfruit, mango, etc.; 54 cooperatives have stable consumption linkage contracts with businesses, forming 9 product consumption linkage chains; and 20 fresh and processed fruit products have been recognized as OCOP 3-star or higher products.

Dong Thap province is continuing to plan and convert low-quality rice and fruit-growing land to specialized cultivation of specialty fruit trees, adapting to climate change and saltwater intrusion, in order to improve agricultural production efficiency and the lives of farmers.
By June 2025, the entire province had established 253 Community Agricultural Extension Teams with more than 2,800 members (reaching 100% of the communes with agricultural production in the province).
At the conference, delegates heard presentations on documents related to community agricultural extension groups. They also discussed the advantages and disadvantages of implementing the Project at the local level, the coordination regulations for agricultural extension activities, product consumption linkages, and support policies for cooperatives participating in the Project.
