Mr. Nguyen Van Ha (40 years old, Hanoi ) came to the DNA testing center with his 10-year-old son Min and his biological father (Min's paternal grandfather) to have a paternity test done.
Mr. Ha's father suspected his daughter-in-law of having an affair with another man and giving birth to baby Min. For many years, Mr. Ha had tried to explain himself, but his father remained unconvinced. Every time he heard outsiders gossiping, his father became even more upset and wanted to get to the bottom of things. Seeing his father's distress, Mr. Ha decided to take him to a center to find evidence to confirm his suspicions.

A week later, Mr. Ha went to the center to receive the results. The man confidently and cheerfully told the DNA center staff that the child was his, and that the DNA test was just to please the father. He absolutely believed that his wife had given him a healthy baby boy.
Upon opening the paternity test results, Mr. Ha was stunned and burst into tears because the results showed that the child was not his. Initially, he couldn't believe it and questioned the staff about any possible mistake. The center's staff explained that he and his 10-year-old son had both come to the center and provided samples directly, so there could be no mistake.
Upon returning home, Mr. Ha spoke frankly with his wife. She continued to deny everything. After a night of reflection, realizing she couldn't avoid the truth, the woman finally confessed to all her wrongdoings.
Before meeting Mr. Ha, she had given her virginity to a college boyfriend. They dated for a while, but her family objected. While heartbroken after the breakup, she met Mr. Ha. He was understanding of her past, and they quickly got married happily.
On her wedding day with Mr. Ha, she was four weeks pregnant. For the past ten years, she has felt guilty for deceiving her husband, and now she hopes to receive forgiveness from him and both families.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga, Director of the Center for DNA Analysis and Genetic Technology (Hanoi), explained that DNA paternity testing is currently the most accurate method. If the DNA samples of the child and the father match in every gene, the accuracy of the paternity test is up to 99.99999%. Conversely, if the two DNA samples do not match in two or more genes, the probability that the man is the child's father is 0%.
Each year, hundreds of clients like Mr. Ha take their children for DNA testing on their own. These clients have various reasons for undergoing the test, such as preparing documents for overseas travel, resolving divorce proceedings, or locating relatives.
In addition, there are many cases where families or couples bring each other to the center to resolve doubts about their relationship. DNA testing using a 16-gene set has high accuracy. To get a DNA test, you only need 10 strands of hair with roots intact, or fingernails, or a blood sample.
