A student who asked to remain anonymous said that she is studying at Thang Long University, participated in the A80 event and was paid 2.2 million VND by the school. The female student expressed surprise that the amount she received was much higher than that of students from other schools, even though they were all in the word formation team.
Dan Tri reporter contacted Thang Long University to confirm the information, however the school's media representative refused to disclose specific numbers.
This person said that the stipend for students participating in A80 comes entirely from the Department of Grassroots Culture, Family and Library ( Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism ). "The school will disburse all the money received from the Department by transferring it to the students," said the media representative.
According to the media representative, the amount of money that the school's students receive is not deducted from any expenses and there is no additional compensation from the school.
During the time students practice for the A80 event, transportation and drinking water expenses are paid by the Department of Grassroots Culture, Family and Library. Thang Long University does not cover these expenses.

Previously, in a dialogue with students on the afternoon of December 1, Mr. Pham Van Long, Principal of Hanoi College of Tourism, also said that the school's students participated in the A80 program for a total of 22 sessions, including 17 practice sessions, 3 preliminary and final rehearsal sessions, and 2 official sessions.
According to the policy approved by the Ministry of Finance, 17 practice sessions are paid 60,000 VND/session; 3 preliminary and final rehearsal sessions are 180,000 VND/session and 2 official sessions are 200,000 VND/session. The total compensation for participating students is 1.96 million VND.
Students are provided with transportation and drinking water. Meal expenses are deducted. The daily meal cost includes 1 main meal of 30,000 VND and 1 snack of 10,000 VND/person. The total cost of meals for 11 days is 440,000 VND/person.
Thus, the actual amount of allowance students receive is 1.52 million VND.
On November 27, the school paid the students the first time, but did not specify whether there would be a second payment. The first payment was 940,000 VND. The second payment was 580,000 VND, which will be given along with a certificate at the ceremony honoring students participating in A80, scheduled to be held in December.
After the dialogue, many people were confused when Hanoi College of Tourism initially announced the dialogue with students at 2:00 p.m. on December 1, but then suddenly changed it to 11:00 a.m.
In the A80 program, Hanoi College of Tourism has nearly 1,000 students participating. Thang Long University has 200 students participating.
Currently, social networks continue to share anonymous posts naming schools that have not paid A80 allowances to students.
