In response to the incident where a 7th grade student at Dai Kim Secondary School (Dinh Cong Ward, Hanoi) reacted harshly and inappropriately to the teacher, the School Board of Directors, homeroom teachers and parents met and agreed on a strict solution but still created opportunities for the student to realize his mistakes and correct them.

Events

According to the report of the People's Committee of Dinh Cong Ward ( Hanoi ), the verified incident took place as follows:

On the afternoon of September 16, in class 7A14, Dai Kim Secondary School (Dinh Cong Ward, Hanoi), Ms. TTTH - the homeroom teacher, during class discovered student TMT (class monitor) holding a sharp toy that could pose a safety risk. She asked the student to hand it over.

When the teacher held the object, the LGB student stood up and asked her to return it. In response to the teacher’s insistence, the LGB student pulled the teacher’s hair and pinned her down to snatch the toy back. This action took place in front of many classmates.

After the incident, Ms. TTTH reported to the Board of Directors. The principal went directly to the class, asked the LGBT student to apologize publicly, and asked the students sitting nearby to write a report.

The school also asked the LGB student to write a report and invited the student’s parents to come to work that same afternoon. The LGB student’s parents were present, apologized to the teacher, and asked for permission for their child to be absent from school on September 17 for a mental health check.

On September 18, the family continued to contact, presented the results of the examination and asked for the student to return to school as usual. In the afternoon of the same day, the Board of Directors, the homeroom teacher and the parents met and agreed on a solution: The parents accepted responsibility, apologized to the teacher and committed to cooperate in educating their child; the TTTH teacher agreed to let it go after LGB apologized, and at the same time, the family asked to take the child back to manage and educate for 10 days.

Family and school coordination

Immediately after the incident, the Board of Directors of Dai Kim Secondary School promptly handled it according to their authority. The school organized for the offending student to directly admit his mistake and publicly apologize to the teacher in front of the class, and invited parents to work together to agree on educational measures, creating conditions for the student to correct his mistakes and practice his behavior; at the same time, the family was asked to take the child for a medical examination and psychological check-up.

At the same time, the school promptly cared for, encouraged, and stabilized the spirit of the TTTH teacher, avoiding the incident from causing more pressure and affecting teaching work. The entire development and initial handling results were promptly reported by the school to the Ward People's Committee and relevant agencies for further coordination.

On the afternoon of September 19, at a working session with the Standing Committee of the Ward Party Committee, the school reported that at the time of the incident, LGB showed signs of psychological instability.

Serious and educational handling

The People's Committee of Dinh Cong Ward determined that the incident at Dai Kim Secondary School was serious, not only directly affecting the safety, honor and reputation of teachers but also negatively impacting the educational environment, causing public outrage.

The local government's viewpoint is to ensure fairness, objectivity, and resolutely handle violations to maintain the dignity of teachers and discipline in schools. In addition, it is also necessary to focus on education, helping students clearly recognize their mistakes, have the opportunity to correct and reintegrate into the community, and avoid students being discriminated against or dropping out of school.

To continue verifying and clarifying the contents related to the incident, the People's Committee of Dinh Cong Ward has directed units to continue performing the following tasks:

The Department of Culture and Society is assigned to closely coordinate with the school and relevant agencies to seriously implement the contents of Official Dispatch No. 446/UBND-VHXH dated September 12, 2025 of the People's Committee of Dinh Cong Ward on strengthening school security and safety and building school culture; at the same time, have measures to provide psychological support for teachers and behavioral counseling for students.

The Ward Police will continue to verify and clarify the contents related to the incident, promptly handle if signs of law violations are detected, and coordinate with the school to prevent and not let school violence recur.

For Dai Kim Secondary School, the People's Committee of Dinh Cong Ward has requested to seriously learn from experience in management, strengthen supervision, maintain discipline and classroom rules; at the same time pay attention to and encourage the spirit of TTTH teachers, ensuring a safe and healthy teaching environment for the teaching staff. In addition, the school must continue to closely coordinate with parents to educate and correct violations, help students correct mistakes and make progress.
