1. “Confidence, autonomy, self-reliance, self-strengthening, national pride”

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day (1944-2024), General Secretary To Lam , Secretary of the Central Military Commission, met with and encouraged young delegates in the Army.

At the meeting, General Secretary To Lam instructed that young people in the Army must cultivate great aspirations, in the spirit of "self-confidence, self-reliance, self-strength, and national pride," creating courage and intelligence, great and lasting values, placed within a high sense of responsibility to the Fatherland and the people, firmly protecting independence, sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, national interests, protecting the achievements of the revolution, and strengthening Vietnam's contribution to world peace , the global economy, and human civilization.

2. Organize and participate in many key activities

During the celebrations of important political events of the Party, State, and Army, the Army's youth successfully organized many key activities.

Highlights included the art program "Dien Bien Phu - Aspiration for the Nation" and the closing ceremony of the competition to learn about the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory; the art exchange program - youth forum "Continuing the Epic of Complete Victory" and the closing ceremony and awarding of prizes for the competition to learn about the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification; the "Marching to the Source" program - art exchange and keeping the flame of tradition burning "Raising the Red Flag High in August"...

The Army Youth also won first prize in the 2023 "Light of the Way" Olympic Competition; won first prize in the final round of the "Pride of Vietnam" Competition...

3. Shining the spotlight on outstanding young faces and promising young faces of the entire army

During the period 2022-2025, nearly 7,000 members of the Youth Union and young people in the entire army were commended at various levels; at the army-wide level, there were 30 outstanding young people, 138 promising young people, 6 outstanding young Vietnamese people, and 3 promising young Vietnamese people.

In particular, since 2022, the commendation program has been organized at the level of the Central Military Commission - Ministry of National Defense. This is a recognition and special attention from the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to the activities of the youth in the Army, serving as a great spiritual motivation for officers, members, and young people to continue striving and determined to achieve high results in their work; affirming the value, significance, effectiveness, and high spread of the activity of selecting and commending outstanding young people and promising young people in the entire army.

4. Pioneer in innovation

During the period 2022-2025, the Youth Innovation Movement and the Youth Innovation Award in the Army continued to make a strong impact. The campaign "Every young person a creative idea" was successfully implemented, with a total of 2,213 projects from 129 units participating in the award, of which 1,164 projects received awards, and 6 collectives received Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister.

The number of entries has increased year after year; the scope and composition of participants in the award continue to expand, attracting a large number of young lecturers, technical staff, defense workers, and contract laborers in 11 specialized fields. The quality of the entries and initiatives is increasingly high, with practical effects on national defense, security, and socio-economic development.

5. Warm "Spring in the border and islands - Tet full of military-civilian affection"

This is a unique and distinctive initiative by the Army's youth, aimed at encouraging and sharing some of the material and spiritual difficulties and hardships with our compatriots and soldiers in the border and island regions of the Fatherland during the Lunar New Year.

The Army Youth Union coordinated with the Political Department of Military Region 4 to organize the program "Spring of Solidarity - Tet of warm military-civilian affection" in Hue City.

Each year, the program is held at 350 locations nationwide, with rich content, diverse forms, and varying scopes and scales. Over three years, the program has donated 62 "100 Dong Houses," hundreds of thousands of sticky rice cakes (bánh chưng and bánh tét), gift packages, scholarships, bicycles, household items, seedlings, and livestock; tens of thousands of people have received free medical examinations, consultations, and medication, along with many activities to celebrate the Lunar New Year.

The "Military Enlistment Day" program and the "Forever Grateful to Uncle Ho" Tree Planting Festival were also enthusiastically and widely organized in agencies and units, with more than 2 million new trees planted each year.

6. Spreading the spirit of the rule of law.

Implementing the Project "Promoting the role of the People's Army in participating in the dissemination and education of law and mobilizing people to abide by the law at the grassroots level in the period 2021-2027" (Project 1371), the period 2022-2025 has seen many exemplary models and best practices.

Notably, there was extensive organization of political activities with the theme "Young Army Soldiers voluntarily study and abide by the law"; the "Young Army Soldiers and the Law" competition; the "Young Army Soldiers and Traffic Culture" festival and competition; the "Solidarity with Border and Island Regions" festival; and the "I Love My Homeland's Sea and Islands" competition...

7. Highlights of the youth volunteer movement nationwide.

Over the past three years, the activities of Youth Month, Border March, and the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign have been highlights in promoting the pioneering and volunteer role of young people in the Army.

The youth of the entire army have deployed and implemented nearly 10,000 youth projects and activities; 722 teams participating in the "Green Summer" campaign, 336 teams participating in the "Pink Holiday" campaign, and 423 teams supporting the exam season; repaired over 400km and renovated nearly 90km of roads; participated in hundreds of beach cleaning activities, collecting over 500 tons of waste; organized 112 sessions on legal education and drug prevention for over 24,000 people; 150 "Semester in the Army" classes, with nearly 20,000 students participating; and provided career guidance in 400 sessions, with over 40,000 participants.

Youth Union grassroots organizations at all levels have established 1,490 "Popular Education Teams" with more than 16,000 members; established and maintained 661 teams, with 4,978 cadres, union members, and young people participating in coordinating and supporting the operation of the two-tiered local government model...

8. Help people prevent and fight natural disasters, rescue and relief

Faced with the complicated situation of natural disasters, storms, floods, and fires in recent times, hundreds of thousands of cadres, union members, and youths of the Army have promptly been present in vulnerable, difficult, arduous, and dangerous places, taking the lead in flood and storm prevention and control, search, rescue, and overcoming the consequences after storms.

These young soldiers faced numerous dangers, yet they pressed forward to rescue and bring people and property to safety; they searched for missing victims. Some comrades bravely sacrificed their lives while on duty.

The youth of the Army also served as a core and vanguard force in assisting the people of Myanmar and Turkey in overcoming the earthquake disaster. Their actions set a shining example of the courage, willpower, and selflessness of the Vietnam People's Army, further enhancing the noble image of the Ho Chi Minh's soldiers in the hearts of the people and international friends.

9. Improve skills and expertise in Youth Union work and youth movements

To implement the Project on training and fostering cadres of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union for the period 2023-2027, training courses on skills and professional practices in Youth Union work and youth movements in the Army are organized annually.

The training course helps participants acquire and update comprehensive knowledge; hone skills, methods, and professional expertise in Youth Union work, and skills in organizing movements; and advise, coordinate, and implement Youth Union activities and youth movements at the grassroots level.

At the same time, every year, agencies and units organize more than 200 training courses for nearly 10,000 Youth Union officials at all levels; introduce 10,000 - 12,000 Youth Union members to participate in Party awareness training courses; introduce and admit nearly 9,000 outstanding Youth Union members into the Party; and organize well the Consulting and Job Introduction Day for soldiers who have completed their military service.

10. Promote international cooperation and exchanges of young officers.

The period 2022-2025 has seen new and notable advancements in the program for exchanging young officers of the Vietnam People's Army with the armies of other countries.

Delegations of young officers from Vietnam and other countries such as China, Cuba, India, Russia, the Philippines, Singapore, Cambodia, and Laos have visited and engaged in exchanges in each country.

The Army youth delegation participated in the International Youth Festival in Russia and Belarus, the ASEAN-China exchange program in China, the "Journey I Love My Homeland" program in Japan as part of the Central Youth Union's program, the Vietnam-Cambodia and Vietnam-Laos Border Defense Friendship Exchange Program; and organized a rigorous and absolutely safe training course for Lao People's Army officers.

The activities have contributed to promoting the cultural beauty, good sentiments of the people and the image of the country and people of Vietnam, the nature and fine traditions of the Vietnam People's Army, maintaining the position and international prestige of our country and Army in the international arena.
