In 2025, under the leadership and guidance of the Party Committee, the Command of Military Region 2, the Border Guard Command, and directly the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, and the Provincial People's Committee, the provincial armed forces were directed to uphold the tradition of unity, proactiveness, creativity, and to strive to overcome all difficulties and challenges, successfully completing the assigned tasks and objectives; some tasks were completed exceptionally well.

Key highlights include: combat readiness is maintained seriously and effectively; operational plans are supplemented and perfected; the armed forces regularly monitor the situation, proactively advise on timely and appropriate handling of issues; national border sovereignty is maintained; political security and social order are basically stable...

In 2026, Dien Bien province's military and defense work identified 10 key tasks. These included: the provincial armed forces continuing to closely coordinate with other forces, maintaining strict combat readiness; regularly reviewing, adjusting, and supplementing operational documents and plans to suit the situation; advising on and organizing rigorous, planned, and absolutely safe exercises; promoting digital transformation and ensuring network information security; and continuing to seriously, democratically, and lawfully carry out the recruitment and conscription of citizens into the military.

To ensure the synchronized, comprehensive, and effective implementation of local military and national defense tasks in 2026, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Lo Van Cuong requested that all levels, sectors, localities, and the provincial armed forces continue to effectively carry out the work of Party building and building a clean, strong, comprehensive, and progressively modern provincial armed forces.

Proactively research, thoroughly understand, assess, and accurately predict the situation; promptly advise and propose policies and countermeasures to effectively handle situations, avoiding passivity and surprises. Strictly maintain combat readiness and rescue duty; prepare sufficient forces and resources to promptly and effectively handle any potential situations.

Particular focus will be placed on the periods of the 14th National Congress of the Party; the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term. Training methods will continue to be reformed and improved in quality according to the motto "Basic, practical, and solid." Active participation in building the grassroots political system, developing new rural areas, disaster prevention and control, search and rescue will contribute to consolidating the people's trust and support.
