Kinhtedothi - Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism has just informed that in the first 10 months of 2024, the city welcomed nearly 35 million visitors (nearly 4.7 million international visitors, nearly 31 million domestic visitors), revenue reached 156,649 billion VND, an increase of 11.9% over the same period in 2023, reaching 82.4% compared to the plan for the whole year of 2024.
Accordingly, on the afternoon of October 31, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism announced that the number of international visitors to the city in October reached nearly 650,000, an increase of 16.6% over the same period in 2023. Along with that, the cumulative number of 10 months of 2024 reached nearly 4.7 million, an increase of 12.9% over the same period in 2023 (10 months of 2023 was 4,127,098), reaching 77.7% of the 2024 plan.
In addition, the number of domestic tourists to the city in October also reached nearly 3.6 million, an increase of 1.2% over the same period in 2023. The cumulative number in the first 10 months of 2024 reached nearly 31 million, an increase of 1.3% over the same period in 2023 (10 months of 2023 was 30,512,799), reaching 81.4% of the 2024 plan.
Ho Chi Minh City's total tourism revenue in October 2024 reached VND 16,251 billion, an increase of 11.4% over the same period in 2023. Accumulated revenue in the first 10 months of 2024 reached VND 156,649 billion, an increase of 11.9% over the same period in 2023 and reaching 82.4% of the 2024 plan.
Of which, revenue from accommodation and catering services in October 2024 is estimated at VND 12,119 billion, accounting for 11.1% of total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue, up 2.7% over the previous month and up 8.7% over the same period.
Accommodation revenue increased by 6% month-on-month and 4.0% year-on-year. Food and beverage revenue increased by 2.3% month-on-month and 9.5% year-on-year.
In the first 10 months of 2024 alone, accommodation and food revenue is estimated at VND110,733 billion, up 8.9% over the same period. Of which, accommodation increased by 26.7% and food services increased by 6.6%.
Travel services in October 2024 are estimated at VND 2,655 billion, down 0.3% compared to the previous month and up 1.4% over the same period. In the first 10 months of 2024, travel services revenue is estimated at VND 32,255 billion, up 46.7% over the same period.
Also according to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, in order to attract a large number of international tourist groups to the city, the tourism industry is developing preferential policies for MICE tourist groups and MICE service organizers and providers.
Currently, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism is also promoting activities to implement the tourism development cooperation program between Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta, such as continuing to implement the plan to organize a program to vote for attractive tourist destinations in Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta.
Along with that, the city continues to promote the tourism development linkage program between Ho Chi Minh City and the Southeast region.
Regarding tourism promotion abroad, Ho Chi Minh City focuses on key activities such as: Organizing the Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City tourism promotion program in Singapore in 2024; Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City tourism promotion seminar and business meeting program serving the International Buyer Program of the Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair ITE HCMC 2025.
In addition, the staff organized a working delegation of the city to attend the 43rd meeting of the Executive Board of the Tourism Promotion Organization for Global Cities (TPO) in Malaysia to promote and introduce the image of Ho Chi Minh City as a destination to TPO member cities.
