Báo Dân tríBáo Dân trí10/05/2024

According to the data of candidates registering for the 2024 public 10th grade entrance exam of the Hanoi Departmentof Education and Training, there are 10 high schools with a competition ratio of less than 1, meaning the number of students registering for the first choice is lower than the enrollment target.

This list includes 2 schools in Ba Vi district, 2 schools in Thanh Tri district, 2 schools in Ung Hoa district, 1 school in Me Linh district, 1 school in Dan Phuong district, 1 school in Thach That district and 1 school in Hai Ba Trung district.

Details of schools with competition ratios below 1 are as follows:

Many parents are interested in the information that when the number of candidates registering for the exam is lower than the enrollment target, students registering for their first choice will have a sure chance of being admitted if they do not have failing scores and do not violate exam regulations.

However, Mr. Nghiem Van Binh - Department of Examination Management and Education Quality Assessment - affirmed: "There is no way that candidates can be sure to pass when registering their first choice at a school with a competition ratio of less than 1".

The leader of the Department of Examination Management and Education Quality Assessment said that the admission principle is to consider all wishes in parallel and equally.

"For example, a school has 350 quotas, the standard score to enter the school is 20, there are 100 students with the first choice getting 20 points, 100 students with the second choice getting 21 points, 150 students with the third choice getting 22 points.

Students will be considered in parallel until all students meet the standard score requirements. It is not necessary to prioritize the first choice before considering the second and third choices," Mr. Binh explained.

This year, the group of high schools leading in terms of competition ratio has seen a sharp change compared to previous years. Accordingly, Yen Hoa High School, Le Quy Don High School - Ha Dong and Tran Hung Dao High School - Ha Dong hold the first, second and third positions in terms of competition ratio, respectively.

Phan Dinh Phung, Cau Giay, Viet Duc, and Chu Van An schools left the top 10. One of the reasons for the disruption is that the 2023 benchmark scores of these schools increased dramatically.

The 10th grade public exam in Hanoi in 2024 "cooled down" as the competition rate decreased slightly compared to 2023.

The whole city has 106,492 candidates registered for the non-specialized grade 10 exam. Last year, the number was 104,917.

The total quota for non-specialized grade 10 (excluding autonomous public high schools and jointly managed public high schools) is 70,725. Last year, the figure was 69,805.
