60 authors and groups of authors were awarded the 18th Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism Award.

Attending the award ceremony were Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet; Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Vo Xuan Ca; Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department Nguyen Thi Thu Lan and Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Quang Buu, Head of the Award Organizing Committee along with many authors, groups of authors and members of the Quang Nam Journalists Association.

The 18th Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism Award had a total of 385 works/292 authors, groups of authors participating in all types of journalism. Of which, printed newspapers had 77 works/48 authors (down from the previous season: 101 works/66 authors). Electronic newspapers had 43 works/35 authors (last year 51 works/43 authors). Photojournalism had a continued increase in the number of works, 28 works/16 authors (last season 22 works/21 authors).

Notably, this year the number of works participating in the thematic journalism awards increased, setting a new record with 149 works/120 authors (last year 124 works/99 authors) participating in 7 thematic journalism awards.

Through the selection, the Organizing Committee of the 18th Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism Award decided to award 60 prizes to 60 authors and groups of authors with a total prize money of 453 million VND. The prize money for each work is 15 million VND, 10 million VND for the second prize, 8 million VND for the third prize and 4 million VND for the encouragement prize.

In the print category, the work “A-lic Listener” by author Le Trung Viet (Vietnam Rural Magazine) won first prize in the category of journalistic reports; the 3-part series: “Land clearance for Thaco Chu Lai Industrial Park project: Difficult problems to solve” by the group of authors Thanh Minh - Huu Phuc (Quang Nam Newspaper) won first prize in the categories of articles reflecting, reporting, editorials, quick notes, interviews, investigations, investigative reports, commentary, special articles, editorials.

In the category of visual journalism, the work “Quang Rivers” by the group of authors Ngo Xuan Loc - Nguyen Thanh Binh - Phan Van Hien (Quang Nam Radio and Television Station) won first prize in the category of long reports and documentaries; the work “Running to the Sea” by the group of authors Do Vinh - Le Huy (VTV8) won first prize in the category of news, short reports, and online discussions.

In the category of spoken press, the first prize went to the work "Falling in love with Hoi An" by the group of authors Nguyen Long Phi - Nguyen Thu Hoa - Nguyen Hang Nga (Central Regional Office - Voice of Vietnam ).

In the electronic newspaper category, the first prize is the work Emagazine "Mother of the Forest" by the group of authors Ho Tran Minh Quan - Nguyen Manh Thanh Cong (Quang Nam Newspaper).

In the press photo category, the first prize went to the work "Hoi An - UNESCO Creative City" by author Dang Thanh Hoa (Vietnam Pictorial - Vietnam News Agency).

On this occasion, the Organizing Committee also awarded 7 thematic prizes, including the Social Insurance Propaganda Journalism Award to 18 authors and groups of authors of 18 works in visual, print, electronic and audio media; the Journalism Award for the Great Unity Cause was awarded to 5 works in the categories of print, visual, audio and electronic media.

The press and propaganda award on administrative reform and digital transformation was given to 7 works in print, visual, audio and electronic media with a value of 8 million VND/work.

The press and propaganda award on Ngoc Linh ginseng and Quang Nam medicinal herbs was awarded to 3 works in the categories of print, visual, audio and electronic newspapers with a value of 7 million VND/work.

The Quang Nam Province Press Award for Propaganda on Forest Environmental Service Payment Policy and Forest Protection awarded 4 press works in print, visual, audio and electronic media with a prize of 7 million VND/prize.

The Journalism and Propaganda Award on Startups and Innovation will be awarded to 5 works in print, visual and electronic media with a prize of 8 million VND/prize.

The Press and Propaganda Award on the prevention of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods will be awarded to 3 works in print, visual and electronic media, including 1 First Prize, 1 Second Prize and 1 Third Prize with prize values of 8 million VND, 6 million VND and 3 million VND/prize respectively.
