60 authors and groups of authors were awarded the 18th Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism Prize.

Attending the awards ceremony were Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet; Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Nam Province Vo Xuan Ca; Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department Nguyen Thi Thu Lan and Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Quang Buu, Head of the Organizing Committee of the award, along with numerous authors, groups of authors and members of the Quang Nam Journalists Association.

The 18th Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism Award received a total of 385 entries from 292 authors and groups of authors across various journalistic categories. Of these, print journalism accounted for 77 entries from 48 authors (a decrease compared to the previous year: 101 entries from 66 authors). Online journalism had 43 entries from 35 authors (compared to 51 entries from 43 authors last year). Photojournalism saw a continued increase in entries, with 28 entries from 16 authors (compared to 22 entries from 21 authors last year).

Notably, this year the number of entries in the thematic journalism awards increased significantly, setting a new record with 149 entries from 120 authors (compared to 124 entries from 99 authors last year) across 7 thematic journalism awards.

After the judging process, the Organizing Committee of the 18th Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism Award decided to award 60 prizes to 60 authors and groups of authors with a total prize money of 453 million VND. The prize money for each winning work is 15 million VND for the first prize, 10 million VND for the second prize, 8 million VND for the third prize, and 4 million VND for the consolation prize.

In the print journalism category, the work "The Listener… A-lic" by author Le Trung Viet (Vietnam Rural Magazine) won first prize in the journalistic essay category; the three-part series: "Land Clearance for the Thaco Chu Lai Industrial Park Project: Difficult Obstacles to Overcome" by the group of authors Thanh Minh – Huu Phuc (Quang Nam Newspaper) won first prize in the category of reporting, commentary, editorial, quick notes, interviews, investigations, investigative reports, commentary, essays, and editorials.

In the television category, the work "Rivers of Quang Nam" by authors Ngo Xuan Loc, Nguyen Thanh Binh, and Phan Van Hien (Quang Nam Radio and Television Station) won first prize in the long reportage and documentary category; the work "Running to the Sea" by authors Do Vinh and Le Huy (VTV8) won first prize in the news, short reportage, and online discussion category.

In the radio journalism category, the first prize went to the work "Falling in Love with Hoi An" by the team of authors Nguyen Long Phi - Nguyen Thu Hoa - Nguyen Hang Nga (Central Region Representative Office - Voice of Vietnam Radio ).

In the online journalism category, the first prize went to the Emagazine entry "Mother Forest" by authors Ho Tran Minh Quan and Nguyen Manh Thanh Cong (Quang Nam Newspaper).

In the photojournalism category, the first prize went to the work "Hoi An - UNESCO Creative City" by author Dang Thanh Hoa (Vietnam Photo News - Vietnam News Agency).

Perhaps, amidst the general difficulties facing Quang Nam, in response to the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee's policy of promoting the traditional cultural values ​​of the land and people of Quang Nam, journalists have focused their attention on searching for, discovering, and spreading positive values ​​stemming from the traditional cultural and historical heritage, the resilience, willpower, and determination of the people of Quang Nam. At the same time, they have concentrated on introducing and promoting the potential, strengths, and development directions of Quang Nam as outlined in the provincial planning document recently approved by the Prime Minister.

On this occasion, the Organizing Committee also awarded prizes for 7 special categories, including the Journalism Award for Social Insurance Propaganda to 18 authors and groups of authors for 18 works in television, print, online, and radio journalism; and the Journalism Award for the Cause of National Unity, which was awarded to 5 works in print, television, radio, and online journalism.

The award for journalistic work promoting administrative reform and digital transformation was given to 7 entries across print, television, radio, and online media, with a prize of 8 million VND per entry.

The journalism award for promoting Ngoc Linh ginseng and medicinal herbs of Quang Nam was given to 3 works in print, television, radio, and online media, with a prize of 7 million VND per work.

The Quang Nam Provincial Journalism Award for promoting policies on payment for forest environmental services and forest protection awarded prizes to 4 journalistic works in print, television, radio, and online media, with a prize of 7 million VND per award.

The journalism award for promoting entrepreneurship and innovation will be given to 5 entries in print, television, and online media, with a prize of 8 million VND per award.

The journalism award for promoting the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods will be given to 3 works in print, television, and online media categories, including 1 First Prize, 1 Second Prize, and 1 Third Prize, with prize values ​​of 8 million VND, 6 million VND, and 3 million VND respectively.

On this occasion, the Organizing Committee launched the 19th Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism Award (2024-2025). The Quang Nam Journalists Association awarded the "For the Cause of Vietnamese Journalism" commemorative medal to 4 outstanding members.
