AFC comments on Vietnam futsal team's consecutive big wins

(Dan Tri) - The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) believes that the Vietnamese futsal team has achieved a perfect record with all wins in the Asian futsal qualifying round.

In their final match of the Asian Futsal Championship qualifiers, the Vietnamese futsal team secured a 4-0 victory against Lebanon. Thus, coach Diego Giustozzi's team finished the qualifying round with three emphatic wins against Lebanon (4-0), China (7-2), and Hong Kong (9-1), earning them a place in the Asian Futsal Championship.

Witnessing the Vietnamese futsal team's overwhelming strength in Group E, the AFC commented: "The 4-0 victory against Lebanon has officially secured the Vietnamese futsal team's place in the Asian Futsal Championship finals with a perfect record in the qualifying round and a full 9 points."

Lebanon needed to win their futsal match against Vietnam to advance to the next round. However, they faced a much stronger opponent.

The Vietnamese futsal team played a high-pressure game and completely dominated the match from the start. The Southeast Asian representatives opened the scoring in the 9th minute through Nguyen Da Hai with a shot from the edge of the penalty area. Just seconds later, Nguyen Thinh Phat immediately doubled the lead for the Vietnamese futsal team with a close-range finish.

Coach Diego Giustozzi's team continued to dominate and extended their lead to 3-0 in the 11th minute thanks to Tu Minh Quang, who capitalized on a cross from Vu Ngoc Anh.

In the second half, Lebanon pressed forward strongly, but their momentum was quickly halted when Vietnam counter-attacked and scored their fourth goal. Ngoc Anh unleashed a shot from outside the penalty area; the ball deflected off a defender and went straight into the net, sealing a 4-0 victory. This result secured Vietnam's futsal team a ticket to the Asian Futsal Championship.

The 2026 Asian Futsal Championship will take place in Indonesia from January 27th to February 7th. In the past, the best performance of the Vietnamese futsal team was finishing 4th in 2016. Iran is the most successful team with 13 championships.
