Quick overview from 8 PM on May 13th: Two consecutive house fire tragedies.
According to Thanh Nien newspaper, at approximately 2:30 PM today, May 13th, police forces lifted the blockades at the entrances to Thanh Cong neighborhood (Quang Trung Ward), allowing residents and vehicles to pass through.
Regarding the house where the fire occurred, police have erected barricades, preventing anyone from entering. Observations indicate that the first and second floors of the house appear to have been completely destroyed by the fire, and the metal beams in the ceiling are warped due to the extremely high temperatures caused by the blaze.
A somber, mournful atmosphere enveloped the small neighborhood. Passersby were shocked to hear of the fire that claimed the lives of a grandmother and her three young grandchildren. Even more heartbreaking was the sight of a small, pink children's bicycle, still neatly parked by the gate behind the barricade, its basket partially charred.
Earlier today, at around 7:45 AM, upon discovering flames and thick smoke billowing from a four-story building in the area, residents of Thanh Cong Street notified authorities to come to the scene to extinguish the fire and rescue those in need.
Residents discovered the fire and tried to put it out, but without success.
Upon receiving the information, the Hanoi City Police dispatched the Fire Prevention, Firefighting and Rescue Team of Ha Dong District Police, and the Fire Prevention, Firefighting and Rescue Team of Area 4 ( thuộc the Fire Prevention, Firefighting and Rescue Police Department of Hanoi City Police) to the scene to carry out their duties.
At approximately 8:15 AM the same day, the fire was completely extinguished. According to the Hanoi People's Committee Office, the fire resulted in 4 deaths and 1 injury.
The four victims have been identified as Mrs. NTH (67 years old) and her grandchildren NMP (10 years old), NQMĐ (8 years old), and NQMH (4 years old). The head of the household, Mr. Nguyen Quang Minh (40 years old), suffered burns to both hands and is currently receiving emergency treatment at Hospital 103. At the time of the fire, Mr. Minh's wife was at work and not at home.
After police lifted the cordon around Thanh Cong Street, a large crowd of people gathered at the house where the fire occurred.
Most of the items on the first and second floors were destroyed by the fire.
Many areas were charred black, and some iron bars were bent due to the high temperatures.
The fact that the child's miniature car was still intact evoked feelings of sadness in many people.
The cages containing dogs and cats were removed from the scene.
The cat was rescued from the fire.
Authorities are still investigating and clarifying the cause of the incident.
