[Photo] Giant pipeline leading water to West Lake, contributing to the revival of To Lich River
In recent days, functional units of Hanoi city have completed two water pipes with a diameter of 1.2m with the task of bringing water from West Lake to renovate To Lich river.

Previously, on September 9, the Hanoi Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Technical Infrastructure and Agriculture coordinated with relevant units to start diverting water from West Lake to To Lich River. Water from West Lake is led through two separate pipes, each with a diameter of D1,200 and a length of 1,500m, to To Lich River. Workers open two water pipes from West Lake to To Lich River. At the end of 2024, Hanoi city will launch a program to revive the To Lich River, with the goal of completing the projects in August 2025.
The plan includes dredging the riverbed, improving both banks, building a dam and taking water from the Red River through West Lake to supplement the To Lich River. After 8 months of implementing the plan, most of the items to revive To Lich River have been almost completed. In phase 1, Hanoi temporarily took water from the West Lake Wastewater Treatment Plant through Sen lagoon and West Lake to supplement the To Lich river. Pumping water from West Lake into To Lich River is one of the solutions that Hanoi is implementing with a strong commitment to soon revive this river.
There are many fish in the river near the water pipe area. The area of the West Lake water pipe leading into To Lich River at the beginning of Hoang Quoc Viet Street. Here, the To Lich river water is green, no longer black as before. People go to To Lich river to fish.
Along with the water supply from West Lake to To Lich River, it is expected that from September 20, the Hanoi Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Technical Infrastructure and Agriculture will supply treated water from Yen Xa Wastewater Treatment Plant to supplement To Lich River, combined with the dam holding water at Quang Bridge will help To Lich River maintain at an elevation of +3.5m.
