Entering 2024, in the first 10 months alone, the province welcomed 14.4 million visitors, a 20% increase compared to the same period last year. Revenue from tourism activities also recorded strong growth, reaching 15,397 billion VND, a 21% increase compared to the same period. These results show that Ba Ria - Vung Tau not only maintains its position as a familiar destination for domestic tourists but is also gradually attracting the attention of international visitors.

This growth is not accidental, but the result of continuous efforts from local authorities and businesses. Firstly, the province has boosted infrastructure investment, upgrading key transportation routes, improving accommodation systems, and developing supporting services to enhance the visitor experience. Simultaneously, tourism promotion and marketing have been given greater attention, with modern, targeted communication campaigns.

These achievements serve as a driving force for Ba Ria - Vung Tau to continue developing even more strongly in the future, ready to welcome a new wave of tourists, and affirming its position as one of Vietnam's leading tourism centers.

Building a world-class tourism brand.

Beyond simply exploiting its existing potential, Ba Ria - Vung Tau aims to build a world-class tourism brand, encompassing diverse tourism types such as beach resorts, ecotourism, cultural and historical tourism, and sports . In particular, hosting international tournaments and large-scale cultural festivals has contributed to elevating the local image on the regional tourism map.

According to Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Ngoc Khanh, this brand will be built around 8 distinctive types of tourism, including: Beach resort tourism: Leveraging the advantages of beautiful beaches in Long Hai, Ho Tram, and Ho Coc; Conference and Exhibition (MICE) tourism: Building international standard conference centers to serve large events; Sports tourism: Organizing marine sports events such as surfing, SUP paddling, and boat racing;

Community-based tourism: Creating opportunities for tourists to experience local life in fishing villages. Each type of tourism is developed according to international standards, creating diversity and uniqueness to meet the needs of all types of tourists.

Long-term vision

Besides diversifying its products, the province also focuses on organizing larger-scale events and festivals lasting from 3 to 7 days, such as the Coastal Light Festival - an international-style program that attracts a large number of visitors.

International marine sports competitions have brought together athletes from many countries, creating a buzz on the world tourism map. In particular, communication efforts for these events will be intensified through digital channels such as fan pages and the province's official website, maximizing the power of social media to reach tourists.

With the advantage of possessing the deep-water Cai Mep - Thi Vai seaport, Ba Ria - Vung Tau is considered an ideal destination for international cruise ships. The province has proposed studying investment in an international passenger port in Vung Tau, while also strengthening cooperation with major cruise lines such as Royal Caribbean and Costa Cruises to include the locality in the frequent visiting routes of luxury cruise ships.

It is expected that in 2024, the province will welcome an additional 40 international cruise ships, with approximately 60,000 passengers, contributing to increased revenue and promoting the local image.

To support its tourism development strategy, the province is also implementing a series of major infrastructure projects such as the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway, expected to be completed in 2026, shortening travel time from Ho Chi Minh City to Vung Tau.

The coastal road from Long Hai to Ho Tram has been expanded, facilitating easier connectivity between tourist areas. And with over 1,300 accommodation establishments and 37,000 rooms, the province is aiming to develop 4-5 star hotels to serve high-end tourists.

Ba Ria - Vung Tau aims not only to become a leading coastal tourism center in Vietnam but also to achieve international recognition. This requires significant investment not only in infrastructure but also in human resources, business support policies, and the collective efforts of the community.

Although the road ahead is still full of challenges, with its existing foundation and well-planned development strategy, Ba Ria - Vung Tau can absolutely rise to become a new symbol of Vietnamese tourism on the world map.

With dedication and determination, Ba Ria - Vung Tau is moving forward, ready to seize great opportunities to affirm its position as an unmissable destination for domestic and international tourists.
