Since April 29, many places have recorded showers, mainly appearing at night and early morning, contributing to mild weather, improving soil moisture and helping plants to green up again. This is also a favorable time for people to plant new forests.

According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from May 2 to May 6, the weather in the Northern region will continue to have showers and thunderstorms in some places, with some places having heavy rain. Along with favorable weather conditions for crop growth, the risk of pests and diseases also tends to increase.

Currently, rice is in the tillering stage, corn is developing stems and leaves. Pests such as aphids and rice blast continue to cause damage and tend to increase in density. For corn, fall armyworms appear sporadically at many growth stages; blood disease can cause local damage in drought-stricken areas and soil lacking nutrients (especially phosphorus).

In addition, squash and pumpkin vegetables are also at risk of being damaged by downy mildew, gummosis, and wilt.
