Bac Ninh: Farmers along the Cau River harvest rice at night with lights on

Comrade Nguyen Van Thang, Chairman of Hop Thinh Commune People's Committee, said that in the 2025 winter-spring crop, the whole commune planted more than 2,200 hectares of winter-spring rice. Since the afternoon of September 30, the flood on the Cau River has risen, threatening to inundate hundreds of hectares of rice and crops of people in villages outside the dike such as Da Hoi, Dong Dao and villages along the dike such as Ninh Tao, Xuan Giang, Phu Coc. Although it is not yet harvest time, in order to cope with the unfavorable weather situation, on the night of September 30, the Party Committee and People's Committee of the commune directed the police, army, and disaster prevention and control teams of the villages to support people in quickly harvesting rice and crops.

By early this morning (October 1), water had flooded some low-lying areas. Some households raising pigs and ducks outside the dike promptly moved their livestock to safe locations. Local authorities are continuing to urge people to closely monitor the flood situation on the Cau River and the dikes to take timely response measures.

Currently, the forces on duty 24/24 hours, increasing patrols and guarding to protect the dike on the left of Cau. Especially checking and reviewing plans to protect key dike points according to the 4-on-the-spot principle. Prepare forces and means to protect the dike, promptly handle any situation that occurs. Organize the clearing of drainage ditches in the area to prevent local flooding; pump and drain water to prevent flooding, protect agricultural production in areas that have not been flooded; industrial parks, urban areas, and residential areas in the commune.
