On the morning of December 2nd, the Steering Committee for the election of National Assembly and People's Council representatives at all levels for the 2026-2031 term in Nghe An province held its first meeting to discuss and implement tasks.

Attending the conference were: Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Hoang Nghia Hieu; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Trong Hai; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, and Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation Vo Thi Minh Sinh; along with the Deputy Heads and members of the Steering Committee.
Based on Directive No. 46-CT/TW of the Politburo , and in order to advise the Provincial Party Committee and the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee on comprehensively, fully, and promptly leading and directing the requirements of election work in the province, on November 14, the Provincial Party Committee issued a decision to establish the Steering Committee for the election of National Assembly and People's Council representatives at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
The Provincial Steering Committee is chaired by Comrade Nguyen Khac Than, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee. The four Vice-Chairmen are: Comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Comrade Vo Trong Hai, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Comrade Vo Thi Minh Sinh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, and Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; and Comrade Nguyen Nam Dinh, Standing Vice-Chairman of the Provincial People's Council. The Steering Committee also includes 25 other members.
The Steering Committee is tasked with leading and directing relevant agencies to develop specific plans and strategies, and prepare the necessary conditions for the successful organization of the election, ensuring that the election is conducted democratically, equally, lawfully, safely, economically, and truly as a celebration for the entire nation.

The Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council, and the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee have issued documents to lead, direct, and implement the election work.
To date, 130 communes and wards have established commune-level election committees; the province has given its approval regarding the projected structure, composition, and allocation of candidates for the National Assembly and Provincial People's Council.
At the meeting, the Steering Committee focused on discussing and providing feedback on the working regulations and work plan; assigning tasks to members; establishing a Standing Unit and forming a Support Team for the Steering Committee.
Concluding the meeting, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Khac Than - Head of the Provincial Election Steering Committee - assessed that, closely following the directives of the Central Committee and the regulations, the province had implemented a number of tasks related to the election work in the area. The Provincial Party Organization Committee received feedback from the members of the Steering Committee and finalized the document for submission to the Provincial Election Steering Committee for consideration and decision.

Emphasizing the context, particularly the advantages and difficulties in carrying out the task of electing representatives to the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Khac Than stated that this is an important political event. Therefore, it must be organized successfully, ensuring safety, compliance with regulations, and absolute adherence to the Party's leadership. During the process, there must be no complacency or negligence.
In particular, the application of technology in the implementation of election work must be strengthened. Election tasks must be carried out without affecting or disrupting other tasks, especially socio-economic development. Adequate and timely funding for organization must be ensured. Members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and members of the Steering Committee must directly supervise and be responsible for their assigned areas.
Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Khac Than requested that all communes establish Steering Committees to lead and direct the election work; develop specific implementation plans, clearly assigning responsibilities, tasks, timelines, and expected results; and strictly adhere to regulations throughout the process.
Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Khac Than also requested the Chairman of the Provincial Election Committee and its members to adhere closely to legal regulations in implementation; in particular, they must develop a detailed plan with specific timelines. They must proactively ensure all necessary resources and conditions are in place to support the election process. They must also rationally divide the electoral units for National Assembly and People's Council representatives at all levels; and provide professional training for members of the commune-level Election Committees.
The consultation process for selecting and nominating candidates for the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels must ensure democracy, adhere to the planned structure and composition, and select individuals who meet the standards and conditions, are exemplary in virtue and talent, and are worthy of representing the will, aspirations, and right to self-governance of the people in the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
In particular, a comprehensive and regular propaganda plan must be developed to ensure that people understand the meaning and importance of the election; and understand their rights and responsibilities as voters. Focus on resolving complaints and denunciations, and strengthen contact and dialogue with the people. Proactively ensure security and order so that the election takes place democratically, equally, lawfully, and safely.
