
To proactively prevent, avoid and respond to storm No. 13, ensure safety of flight operations, people and property at airports, and minimize negative impacts on flight operations, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has just issued a dispatch requesting relevant agencies and units to organize 24/7 duty; strictly implement the Storm and Tropical Depression Response Procedure in civil aviation activities.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requests the Vietnam Airports Corporation to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to inspect the airport infrastructure system, communication system, etc. to promptly detect and handle damages (if any) to ensure the safety of works, stations, and ensure the safety of operations at airports.
At the same time, deploy plans to prevent rain and storms, measures to prevent flooding, clear the flow in airports, protect works, vehicles and equipment at airports, minimize damage caused by rain and storms and quickly stabilize all aviation activities to serve the needs of passengers.
For airports under construction (Chu Lai and Phu Cat Airports), investors are required to work with contractors to immediately implement storm response measures; identify technical stopping points to stop construction according to the storm's developments; prepare conditions to promptly fix construction incidents, ensure safety, and limit damage caused by storms.
In addition, it is necessary to arrange 24/7 duty and proactively update meteorological information to promptly propose appropriate and safe exploitation plans.
The Department also noted that units after the storm weakened and made landfall were at risk of heavy rain, causing flooding after the storm.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requested the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation to direct aviation meteorological service providers to strengthen the work of ensuring the quality of meteorological information; continuously monitor the weather situation in the area of responsibility, update forecasts and warnings; and provide timely and complete monitoring, forecasting and warning information to users.
For airlines and flight operation service providers, the Authority requests units to strengthen coordination; closely monitor the developments of storm No. 13 to have plans to adjust flight plans or change flight schedules accordingly and ensure flight safety. Fully update meteorological information from relevant aviation meteorological agencies and based on the actual situation to deploy necessary response actions, minimize impacts on operations, ensure flight safety, protect people and property of the unit from natural disasters.
Regarding the Northern, Central and Southern Airports Authorities, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requests that the Airports Authorities supervise the implementation of response measures at relevant airports; ensure smooth communication with the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam and relevant agencies and units within their scope of responsibility to deploy responses in all situations.
