A recent Reuters/Ipsos poll demonstrates that the charges against former U.S. President Donald Trump have not significantly altered American public opinion of him. This allows Trump to maintain his position in the 2024 Republican presidential nomination race.
Specifically, 81% of Republicans said the allegations against him were politically motivated, meaning they believe Trump is being undermined by false rumors ahead of the 2024 presidential election.
Nevertheless, 62% of those surveyed, including 91% of Democrats and 35% of Republicans, still believe that Trump illegally stored classified documents at his Florida home.
On the afternoon of June 9th, specific charges against Mr. Trump, including obstruction of justice, were announced. Accordingly, the former president is being prosecuted on 37 charges after allegedly illegally possessing classified documents about the US nuclear and weapons programs, as well as defense plans, even after leaving the White House.
