(NLDO) - Not only are they good teachers, many teachers also show off their talents as singers and "cool" chefs, surprising many students.

On the morning of November 17, more than 100 schools in Ho Chi Minh City gathered at Dam Sen Cultural Park (District 11) to participate in the cooking contest "Teachers with 3-region cuisine ", an activity that attracted thousands of students and parents to cheer and support.

At the festival, Ms. Nguyen Thanh Le, a Literature teacher at Nam Ky Khoi Nghia High School (District 11) unexpectedly became the center of attention. Her "sweet as sugarcane" singing voice led many visitors to the school's food booth.

"This year, my school is selling banh tam bi and xoi du rien. As a Westerner, I know a little bit about singing, so I immediately thought of composing some folk songs to attract customers and help students understand what Southern folk songs are like," Ms. Le said excitedly.

In addition, the school also has a separate area for students and visitors to experience folding grasshoppers and locusts from coconut leaves.

Durian sticky rice received 10 points from many students.

"Students today often entertain themselves with video games or social media. Making animals out of coconut leaves is a traditional game and part of our childhood. We hope students will also enjoy these traditional toys," Ms. Le shared.

Mr. Nguyen Tran Khanh Bao, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Education Trade Union, said the culinary contest is one of the activities of the Month of Gratitude to Teachers. The contest is both a playground for teachers to show off their cooking skills and a highlight in the education sector's propaganda plan to raise awareness of food safety and hygiene.
