On November 15th, the Hue City Police Investigation Agency announced that it had issued a decision to initiate a criminal case, indict and temporarily detain Le Nhat Truong (born in 1984, residing in Tan Thanh district, Long An province); Le Vinh Phuc (born in 1979, residing in An Phu district, An Giang province); and Dinh Thuy Sang (born in 1981, residing in Thu Duc district, Ho Chi Minh City) for committing fraud and appropriating property using new and sophisticated methods.

Previously, on November 4th, after receiving a complaint from a gold shop owner suspecting a group of people of fraudulently accepting low-quality gold to steal property, the Hue City Police directed their forces to investigate and determined that the group, suspected of being professional fraudsters, was still hiding in Hue City to continue committing crimes.
Within a short time, the Hue City Police force gathered evidence proving the criminal act, identified the hiding place of the aforementioned group, and summoned them to the police station for questioning. With sharp arguments and evidence, the investigators forced the group to fully confess to their crimes.
At the police station, Le Nhat Truong confessed that, due to a lack of money to pay off debts, he came up with the idea of buying low-quality gold online to then fraudulently pawn it at gold shops to get money. Truong invited Le Vinh Phuc and Dinh Thuy Sang to join him in Hue City to carry out the fraud.

Subsequently, the group purchased low-quality but exquisitely crafted gold rings and pendants of relatively high value, engraved with the logos of reputable gold and jewelry companies in Ho Chi Minh City to deceive gold shops. Even more cunningly, this group only pawned the gold instead of selling it, exploiting the shops' lax inspection process. When pawning the gold, they used aliases and conducted transactions at multiple different establishments to avoid detection.
Using this method, the group successfully carried out 10 scams in just two days, November 3rd and 4th. Evidence seized included 10 gold rings and 7 gold pendant necklaces confiscated from the victims. Currently, the Hue City Police Investigation Department is consolidating the case file to prosecute the aforementioned group in accordance with the law.
