On the evening of December 16th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People's Committee of Quang Tri province held the closing ceremony of the 2024 Vietnamese Ethnic Cultures Festival after four days of vibrant cultural, tourism, and sports activities.

With the theme "Preserving and promoting the cultural identity of Vietnamese ethnic groups in equality, solidarity, respect, integration, and development for a peaceful world," the 2024 Vietnamese Ethnic Cultures Festival was a success and left many positive impressions.

Artists, performers, and athletes from ethnic groups across 16 provinces and cities nationwide gathered in Quang Tri, bringing to the festival distinctive cultural features in performing arts, costumes, cuisine, sports, and more.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai Nhung, Director of the Department of Ethnic Culture - Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the 2024 Vietnamese Ethnic Cultures Festival, affirmed: The festival was successfully held, ensuring that it met the set objectives and requirements and fulfilled the common aspirations of the people of the 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam.

Although the weather affected some activities during the festival, especially outdoor ones, it did not diminish the vibrant spirit and enthusiasm of the performers, artists, and supporters – the cultural participants from 16 provinces and cities.

“The festival proceeded as planned, ensuring safety in all aspects, creating an atmosphere of excitement and unity, and evoking pride in traditional cultural values so that people of all ethnic groups can raise their awareness, understanding, and knowledge to preserve the precious cultural heritage of their nation,” emphasized Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai Nhung.

According to the Organizing Committee's assessment, the participating delegations had made thorough preparations and invested carefully in the activities at the Festival. In the folk art festival, 16 delegations presented 64 meticulously staged and professionally produced performances by the artisans and artists themselves.

The diverse and colorful performances accurately reflect the distinctive cultural characteristics of each region; conveying profound messages about love for the homeland, reverence for the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, unity among ethnic communities, and neighborly solidarity…

The Vietnamese Ethnic Cultures Festival serves as a connecting thread, fostering unity among localities, artisan groups, and amateur performers from various provinces. It also provides an opportunity for the cultural identities of ethnic groups to be widely disseminated and shared.

Ms. Ha Thi Hang from Son La delegation said: "Through this festival, we have introduced and promoted the cultural identity of the 12 ethnic groups in Son La to our friends, aiming to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of our province."

At the closing ceremony of the festival, outstanding performances were also presented by artisans, bringing many emotions and unique impressions to the audience. These included the "Wings of the Great Forest" dance by artisans and performers of the Van Kieu and Pa Co ethnic groups from Quang Tri province; the "Echoes of the Great Forest" drum-beating ensemble performance by the Thai ethnic group from Thanh Hoa province; the "Shrimp Catching" dance by the Cao Lan ethnic group from Vinh Phuc province; the "Tha Khenh" dance ( khen dance) by the Mong people from Son La province; and the bamboo instrument ensemble performance by the Gia Rai people from Gia Lai province.

Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, Hoang Nam, expressed his hope that after this festival, the spirit of solidarity, exchange, and learning among ethnic groups and between provinces and cities will continue to be maintained and developed. He also hoped that participating units would continue to meet at festivals held in other localities to further spread the finest values of the community culture of Vietnam's ethnic groups.

“Returning to Quang Tri province, in addition to participating in the activities of the 2024 Vietnamese Ethnic Cultures Festival, delegates, artisans, actors, and athletes from various delegations have also engaged in activities to express gratitude and visit historical sites and scenic spots in the area. We hope that the land and people of Quang Tri have left a positive impression on the delegations and that this impression will be widely shared…” – Mr. Hoang Nam shared.
