On the afternoon of September 22, Bach Mai Hospital held a ceremony to send off 10 victims of the mini apartment fire in Thanh Xuan ( Hanoi ) after 10 days of treatment and health monitoring.
Before the hospital discharge ceremony, doctors, patients, relatives and those present at Bach Mai Hospital hall observed 1 minute of silence for the 56 victims who died in the mini apartment fire.
Patients were discharged from the hospital on the afternoon of September 22 to commemorate the victims of the fire.
According to the leader of Bach Mai Hospital, the 10 patients discharged on the afternoon of September 22 were assessed to have stable health and were eligible for discharge after treatment and active monitoring.
Mr. NVH's family, including Mr. H.'s father, his wife, and their two children, were among the five people discharged from the hospital on the afternoon of September 22. Mr. H. said that his entire family would stay at his grandfather's house because the mini apartment could not be used again after the fire.
This man also added that as soon as he returns home and stabilizes his life, he will send his children back to school. "Luckily, the children have recovered well and are mentally stable. For us, the apartment fire was an incident, a big shock, it happened so suddenly, with the loss of many families. My family is still very lucky that there are still enough people" - Mr. H. shared.
Mr. H. also shared that he met the 8th grade girl and the man born in 1984 who were panicking in the fire. He pulled them into his apartment and all 7 people escaped.

Previously, after the mini apartment fire, the hospital received 26 cases of fire victims who inhaled toxic smoke at different levels, including 2 critically ill patients, 2 patients with multiple injuries, 7 children (the youngest 8 months old) and the oldest patient 81 years old.
Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Xuan Co, Director of Bach Mai Hospital, said that at the time of admission, many patients from the mini apartment fire were in critical condition. The patients were not only shocked by the pain but also panicked.
The hospital has dispatched an elite team to both rescue the victims and encourage the patients. Currently, among the 31 patients, the border guard is still in serious condition, on a ventilator, in a coma, and his wife and children have not survived.
In addition to the above patients, from September 14 to 22, Bach Mai Hospital received 5 more cases (most of them had symptoms of smoke inhalation, a few had symptoms of CO poisoning). Up to this point, the hospital has been treating 31 patients. Up to this point, there is still 1 severe case under intensive treatment, 1 case of heel injury and 19 cases have improved but need further monitoring.
The doctor congratulated the patient on being discharged from the hospital.
Bach Mai Hospital leaders said that in addition to health monitoring and treatment, patients also receive mental health treatment. The hospital does not charge any fees from patients, nor does it charge other living expenses from patients’ families.
Among the patients being treated, patient NVC (border guard), born in 1986, is still in serious condition, on a ventilator, and in a coma. His wife and two children did not survive.
"We are determined to do our best to save our comrade's life. We washed his lungs until the 6th day and they still turned black. Up to now, the patient's parameters are under control but he is not yet conscious. We are trying to wean him off the ventilator and rehabilitate him as soon as possible," Associate Professor Co said.
The remaining patients will be discharged in the next few days.
