Binh Dan Hospital supports the improvement of Urology expertise for the Central Highlands General Hospital

The meeting was attended by Deputy Director of Dak Lak Provincial Department of Health Nguyen Luu Vu Quang and leaders and specialists of the two hospitals.

In a preliminary report at the meeting, a representative of the Central Highlands General Hospital said that although the hospital is the final line of the Central Highlands region, serving the medical examination and treatment needs of people in neighboring provinces, it still faces many difficulties in terms of specialized human resources, equipment and advanced techniques in the field of Urology.

Complex techniques such as urological endoscopic surgery, extracorporeal lithotripsy, treatment of urinary cancer (bladder, kidney, prostate...) are still limited. Many serious cases still have to be transferred to higher levels in Ho Chi Minh City, causing costs and time for patients and creating pressure on the higher levels.

Deputy Director of Dak Lak Provincial Department of Health Nguyen Huu Vu Quang expressed his opinion at the meeting.

Speaking at the meeting, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Vinh Hung emphasized that Binh Dan Hospital is a leading specialist unit in Urology, General Surgery and Andrology, with a lot of experience in training and transferring techniques to provincial hospitals. Binh Dan Hospital is ready to coordinate with the Central Highlands General Hospital to develop a specific, sustainable and appropriate support plan for local conditions.

Support can be implemented in many forms such as: sending doctors for on-site training; receiving doctors from the Central Highlands General Hospital to study at Binh Dan Hospital; organizing specialized surgical sessions; transferring technical procedures for kidney stone treatment, cystoscopy, urinary cancer treatment, minimally invasive urinary intervention...

Representatives of leaders, heads of departments and offices of the Central Highlands General Hospital attended the meeting.

In addition, the two sides also discussed the possibility of establishing remote cooperation models, applying technology transfer through online consultation systems, and post-operative monitoring, to ensure people have access to high-quality medical services right in their localities.

Appreciating the support of Binh Dan Hospital to improve the professional capacity of the medical staff in the Central Highlands, Deputy Director of Dak Lak Department of Health Nguyen Huu Vu Quang affirmed that the business trip of Binh Dan Hospital not only marked the beginning of the professional cooperation relationship between the two hospitals, but also opened up opportunities for long-term, sustainable development in the field of Urology in the Central Highlands, contributing to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment for people in the area.

It is known that after violations in medical examination and treatment activities at the Department of Nephrology - Urology, Central Highlands General Hospital, Dak Lak Health sector has been urgently correcting operations, gradually stabilizing operations at this unit, in which, the Provincial Department of Health has sent a document requesting Binh Dan Hospital to support expertise, training and transfer of Nephrology - Urology techniques to improve treatment capacity, ensuring patient safety.

Accordingly, the Department of Health of Dak Lak province hopes that Binh Dan Hospital - the leading unit in Surgery - Urology in the Southern region - will coordinate in training and transferring specialized techniques such as laser lithotripsy, percutaneous nephroscopy, prostate surgery, online consultation; at the same time, support the standardization of technical procedures and improve the professional capacity of local medical staff and doctors.

At the request of the Dak Lak Provincial Department of Health, Binh Dan Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City agreed to send a 3-member working group to the Central Highlands General Hospital to assess the current situation and the ability to provide professional support in the field of Urology. At the same time, Binh Dan Hospital requested the Dak Lak Provincial Department of Health to issue a memorandum of understanding on line management activities; on that basis, the two sides will sign a contract in principle for professional support between Binh Dan Hospital and the Central Highlands General Hospital in the near future.
