On the evening of March 13th, Dr. Truong Tu Trach, Deputy Director of Soc Trang General Hospital, announced that the hospital had successfully collaborated with Hoang Tuan General Hospital (Soc Trang) to resuscitate patient TKN (52 years old, Tran De district, Soc Trang) who had suffered cardiac arrest and respiratory failure, thanks to coronary artery intervention techniques.
On March 9th, Mr. N. was admitted to the emergency room at Hoang Tuan General Hospital in a state of cardiac arrest and respiratory failure. There, the emergency doctors at Hoang Tuan General Hospital performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation, restoring his heartbeat and breathing.
Immediately afterwards, the emergency team consulted by phone with Soc Trang General Hospital and decided to transfer the patient to the Provincial General Hospital for cardiovascular emergency treatment .
The General Emergency Department of Soc Trang General Hospital received patient N. in a very critical condition, lethargic, with a weak pulse, blood pressure dropping to only 70/40 mmHg, and cardiac arrhythmia.
Immediately, the general emergency department activated a hospital-wide alert, encompassing intensive care units, interventional cardiology departments, and others. The emergency team held an urgent consultation, simultaneously resuscitating the patient and transferring him to the cardiac catheterization lab for coronary angiography.
The results revealed that the patient had a complete blockage of the left coronary artery branch (LAD I). Doctors then placed a stent to reopen the left coronary artery, saving the patient's life.
Following the intervention, Mr. N's chest pain subsided, his shortness of breath decreased, his heart rate became regular, and he was able to have his endotracheal tube removed and be weaned off the ventilator.
Dr. Truong Tu Trach, who directly supervised the cardiovascular intervention for patient N., said that this was a critical, life-threatening case. "However, thanks to the inter-hospital red alert procedure between Hoang Tuan General Hospital and Soc Trang General Hospital, and the hospital-wide red alert procedure, we were able to save the patient's life in time."
"Early detection and intervention help patients recover quickly without lasting effects. I am very pleased to see the patient stable. Soc Trang General Hospital is always ready to serve the people in medical emergencies," said Dr. Trach.
Mr. N. also emotionally shared: "Having just overcome a life-threatening situation, I now feel much better. I am truly grateful to the doctors and nurses of the two hospitals who promptly saved my life at the last minute. Once again, I would like to express my gratitude to the doctors and nurses who gave me back my life."
