Information from the Thanh Hoa Department of Education and Training said that the Department Inspectorate has requested the Examination Council of Ngoc Lac High School (Ngoc Lac District, Thanh Hoa) to organize a review due to entering the exam scores of a candidate taking the 10th grade entrance exam.
Previously, the Thanh Hoa Department of Education and Training received a report that student CTH (born 2009), a 10th grader at Le Hong Phong High School, Bim Son town, achieved an unusually high score in the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2024-2025 school year. This student was also the valedictorian of the school, while he had average academic performance.
After receiving the information, the Department of Education and Training Inspectorate stepped in to clarify.
According to this student's 10th grade transcript, the scores are: Math 8 points; Literature 8.5 points; English 6.4 points (all scores have not been multiplied by the coefficient).
However, after the test, this candidate only got 4.5 points in Math; 6.5 points in Literature; 2.4 points in English. Based on the standard score to enter Le Hong Phong High School for the 2024-2025 school year, this student did not have enough points to pass the 10th grade.
On September 25, the Le Hong Phong High School Examination Council announced that CTH candidates who did not have enough points to pass the exam were forced to stop studying.
According to the Inspector of the Department of Education and Training, the cause of the above mistake was that the Examination Council of Ngoc Lac High School, during the review process, incorrectly calculated the scores.
The members affirmed that the mistake in recording the exam score for student H. was completely unintentional, due to work pressure and lack of concentration during the process, which led to the above incident.
