Students in mountainous Thanh Hoa study in an unfinished school

Since the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year, nearly 100 students of Nam Xuan Primary School in the mountainous commune of Nam Xuan, Thanh Hoa province, have had to study in an unfinished school, littered with materials, posing a safety risk to teachers and students.

According to the feedback of parents of students at Nam Xuan Primary School, this school was invested in and built solidly by the State.

Up to now, most of the items of this school project have been completed, only the remaining items remain to be completed for handover.

However, recently the construction of this school has been temporarily suspended, leaving a mess of materials in the school yard and campus.

The construction site is unfinished but has no fences or warning signs, posing a risk of accidents at any time.

"In a construction site where there are still scattered materials, a leaking electrical wire, or unsafe construction materials can cause serious consequences for students and teachers," a parent worried.

According to a representative of Nam Xuan Primary School, from the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year, all students of the main school have moved from the temporary school at the village cultural house to the newly built, unfinished school to study, due to a lack of classrooms, affecting teaching and learning.

Parents and the school hope that the People's Committee of Nam Xuan commune will request the contractor to complete the construction of Nam Xuan Primary School, so that teachers and students can feel secure teaching and learning at the new school.

Mr. Le Van Dinh - Deputy Director of the Quan Hoa Area Construction Investment Project Management Board (the investor in the construction of Nam Xuan Primary School when it was still the district government - PV) - said that up to now, 95% of the Nam Xuan Primary School project has been built.

Mr. Dinh admitted that allowing students to attend school when the school construction was not yet completed was against regulations.

This project is behind schedule and has just been extended to continue construction and completion of the remaining items in the coming time.
