1,750 households isolated, dozens of boats sunk and drifted, Lam Dong activated emergency response

Currently, 1,750 households in the old Binh Thuan area have been flooded, many boats are in dangerous conditions at sea. Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee requested urgent response to natural disaster situations.

On December 4, Standing Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Le Trong Yen requested functional forces to urgently respond to natural disasters in the context of prolonged heavy rains causing widespread flooding. Flooded areas are mainly concentrated in the old Binh Thuan area.

According to a quick report, the whole province currently has about 1,750 flooded households: Ham Liem commune has 300 households, Song Luy has 400 households, Lien Huong has more than 1,000 households (300 households have been evacuated), Ham Thuan has 50 deeply flooded households that are continuing to be evacuated.

Dozens of ships sank or drifted out to sea, many ships are in danger, needing urgent rescue.

The Provincial People's Committee assigned the People's Committees of communes, wards, and special zones to urgently evacuate all households remaining in deeply flooded areas and areas at risk of being unsafe to safe places.

Localities must organize 24/7 duty, deploy forces at key points according to the "4 on-site" motto, prioritizing support for the elderly, children, pregnant women and special cases.

Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee noted the need to quickly set up temporary shelters, ensure food, clean water, electricity, medicine and necessities for evacuated people. At the same time, deploy rescue forces in areas with rapidly rising water or at risk of landslides, and organize search and rescue at sea.

Communes, wards and special zones guide fishermen to anchor their boats safely and resolutely not allow boats to go out to sea in dangerous conditions.

To ensure flood cutting and limitation in case the weather continues to worsen, the Provincial People's Committee requires owners of irrigation and hydroelectric reservoirs to strictly implement reservoir operation procedures, promptly notify downstream areas of flood discharge plans and times, and proactively drain water to reduce the risk of flooding.

Dozens of boats sank, broke anchor, and drifted.

According to a quick report from the People's Committee of Lien Huong commune (formerly Binh Thuan, now Lam Dong), heavy rain combined with the discharge of floodwaters at 1,200m3 /second by Binh Thuan Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited - Tuy Phong Branch caused widespread flooding and property damage in the downstream area of ​​Song Long Song reservoir.

Initially, this commune recorded 13 boats anchored at Lien Huong port that sank, 25 other boats broke their anchors and drifted; more than 100 hectares of agricultural land on both sides of Long Song River were flooded more than 1.5 meters deep. By noon today, more than 1,000 households in Phuoc The village 1 and village 2 were flooded from 1 meter to 1.5 meters deep.

Initial damage, according to estimates by the People's Committee of Lien Huong commune, is more than 30 billion VND.
