According to Tuoi Tre Online on the afternoon of December 4, the anti-flooding pumping system of Phan Thiet - Dau Giay highway, section Km25+369, Tan Lap commune, Lam Dong province (formerly Binh Thuan ) was still submerged under water.

Water from the Phan River rose and overflowed into the drainage system of the wall that the Thang Long Project Management Board built to prevent flooding. The overflowing water flooded the pump area.

At the same time, rising water flooded the highway in both directions. Authorities had to close the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay highway in both directions at the intersection with Highway 55 and Ba Bau to wait for the water to recede.

Earlier that morning, the Road Management Area IV said that due to the prolonged heavy rain, the water level rose and flooded the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway at the above location. The water had flooded the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway surface about 20m high, 50cm deep, occupying 2 lanes of traffic.

This is a section of the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway that was deeply flooded when it was first put into operation. To prevent flooding, the Thang Long Project Management Board built water-retaining walls and installed a high-capacity pumping station.

However, Thang Long Project Management Board has not yet handed over this pump system to Road Management Area IV for management.

Highway closed, National Highway 1 jammed

Informing Tuoi Tre Online at 2:30 p.m., a representative of Highway Traffic Police Team No. 6 (Department 6, Traffic Police Department) said that they had regulated traffic on one side of the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Highway from North to South. When reaching the flooded point, drivers reduced speed and followed the instructions of the authorities who were regulating traffic on one lane. The opposite direction was still temporarily closed at the intersection of Highway 55.

The closure of the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway has caused congestion on many parallel sections of National Highway 1. The most serious congestion is in front of Ba Bau Intersection, Ham Kiem Commune and National Highway 55 Intersection, Ham Tan Commune. Vehicles exiting the expressway have to move slowly.
