Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang works with the Vietnam National Energy and Industry Group

On the morning of November 8, comrade Tran Luu Quang, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, and his delegation came to work with the Vietnam National Industry and Energy Group (Petrovietnam).

Before the working session, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang and the working delegation surveyed the VSP Operation Center; attended the launching ceremony of the central technology platform base - the project to develop the gas field of Block B at the PTSC Technical Logistics Service Center, Petrovietnam and installed a signboard to welcome the 14th National Congress of the Party.

The Block B – O Mon gas-power project chain is a national key project with a total investment of nearly 12 billion USD. When put into operation, the project chain will provide about 5.06 billion m³ of gas/year - a clean, stable fuel source for power plants in the Southwest region, making a significant contribution to the budget. The project chain will also promote industrialization in the Mekong Delta and contribute to ensuring national energy security.

The Block B – O Mon project has comprehensive strategic significance for Vietnam’s energy security, economic development and green transition. Upon completion, the project will significantly replace FO oil power with natural gas power, contributing to reducing CO₂ emissions, ensuring the Net Zero 2050 target, while creating momentum for infrastructure, industrial and employment development in the Southwest region.

The Block B – O Mon Project Chain is a testament to Petrovietnam's mastery in the energy value chain, from exploration – exploitation, manufacturing – transportation to power generation, demonstrating the Group's core role in implementing Resolution 55-NQ/TW and Power Plan VIII.

The installation of the plaque welcoming the 14th National Party Congress on the base of the CPP platform in Block B is a worthy recognition of the outstanding efforts of Petrovietnam and all oil and gas workers, and at the same time a strong source of encouragement to further motivate the collectives to continue to exceed the schedule, ensuring the first gas flow (First Gas) from Block B by the end of 2027, contributing to realizing the goal of "Pioneering - Excellence - Sustainability - Global" that Petrovietnam is aiming for.
