At the meeting, comrade Nguyen Quang Hiep, Chairman of Hiep Thanh Commune People's Committee, said that recently, the locality has continuously experienced heavy rains, causing localized flooding in the villages of Dinh An, Tan An, K'Ren, K'Long, Trung Hiep, Phi Nom and Bong Lai.

Prolonged heavy rains caused the water level in low-lying areas to rise from 1m to 1.5m; many residential areas were isolated, many houses and people's properties were submerged in water; many constructions and cultivated areas suffered heavy damage over a large area. Flooding also damaged many equipment, agricultural tools, electronic devices, household appliances of many families, and books and school supplies of many students.

The Commune People's Committee has compiled statistics and proposed the Provincial People's Committee to consider supporting the disaster recovery for households that suffered heavy damage due to the heavy rain on the night of September 5 with a budget of over 900 million VND, supporting rice for 210 households (881 people) and books and school supplies for 53 students.
On October 27, prolonged heavy rain also caused flooding, causing 50-100% damage to more than 200 hectares of crops and vegetables, with an estimated loss of about 9 billion VND. The People's Committee of Hiep Thanh commune is reviewing, counting, and calculating the damage to propose support according to regulations.

At the meeting, the People's Committee of the commune also proposed that the province consider, agree on policies, and allocate capital to promptly implement projects to overcome the consequences of natural disasters in the area. At the same time, it directed the adjustment of the Da Tam stream at some locations to ensure favorable drainage in the commune, especially low-lying areas in the old Hiep An commune.

Leaders of the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, the Department of Construction, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, and the Department of Finance also clarified many issues related to flood response and recovery, as well as the local adjustment of Da Tam stream.

In his speech, Lam Dong Provincial Party Secretary Y Thanh Ha Nie Kdam acknowledged the efforts and proactive spirit of local Party committees and authorities in implementing the "4 on-the-spot" motto and promptly responding to natural disasters. The Secretary requested the locality to focus all resources to support people to soon stabilize their lives, restore production, and proactively develop long-term response plans, suitable for increasingly extreme weather developments.

Currently, the weather is extreme and unpredictable, but it is at the beginning, not the end. The impact of natural disasters is greatly affecting life and socio-economic development, so it is necessary to have assessments, judgments, and develop disaster prevention plans suitable for each region.
Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Lam Dong Province Y Thanh Ha Nie Kdam noted

Regarding the proposal for the Da Tam stream project, the Provincial Party Secretary emphasized that this stream is a natural drainage system, which is very important. Therefore, it is necessary to mobilize people to clear the stream corridor to ensure the drainage system in the commune. This year the water level is historic, but if we do not pay attention to clearing the drainage corridor or are subjective, the water level in the coming years will be higher.

Regarding the implementation of investment in drainage systems and embankment projects to prevent landslides and flooding, the Provincial Party Secretary requested to ensure harmony between the impact of the project and natural drainage, in accordance with socio-economic development. The province will direct and select the most optimal solution in the spirit of companionship, sharing and efficiency.
On this occasion, the Provincial Party Secretary awarded 1 billion VND to support Hiep Thanh commune to overcome the consequences of floods, helping people stabilize their lives soon.
