Complications after one month of penis enlargement silicone injection

Hanoi: A 35-year-old man had his penis injected with silicone by a private clinic doctor to increase its size. A month later, the penis became deformed.

The patient came to the Department of Plastic Surgery - Aesthetics, Duc Giang General Hospital, for examination in a condition of large foreskin, not retracting, difficulty in sexual intercourse, urinary retention. He said that in the beginning after silicone injection, the penis increased in size, the couple's relationship was harmonious, however, a month later, the genitals became abnormal.

On July 5, Dr. Pham Duy Linh diagnosed the patient with a severe infection due to improper silicone injection. The surgeon removed all the silicone, cut out the infected skin, and treated the patient's complications.

According to Dr. Linh, both unmarried and married men with children have a need to increase penis size. Previously, liquid silicone was used in plastic surgery to enlarge or fill a body part. In 1992, this substance was banned due to complications such as pain, erectile dysfunction, and difficulty in sexual activity.

Nowadays, many people still secretly use silicone for beauty purposes. However, improper silicone injections can lead to deformation of body parts. Silicone injections to increase the size of the genitals, if this substance spreads to the scrotum, can cause testicular necrosis or infertility. Liquid silicone entering the blood will cause blood clots, putting the patient at risk of death, the doctor said.

Doctors advise that to have a healthy sex life, men need to adjust their lifestyle to a healthy working and resting regime, and control stress. Limit starch, alcohol, fat, and fast food. Increase fiber from green vegetables, fresh fruits, and zinc-rich foods from seafood, nuts, and cereals. Maintain physical exercise and limit stimulants.

Only when the penis size is too small, affecting the ability to have sex, should intervention be done to improve it. Do not arbitrarily search for and follow word-of-mouth methods to change the size.

Penis size is not the most important factor determining the quality of a relationship, but also depends on erectile ability, intercourse time, skills and feelings between the two people, according to the doctor.
