Blackpink helps Hanoi tourism earn 630 billion VND

Tourism activities in Hanoi benefited greatly from Blackpink's two shows on July 29-30, with total revenue from tourists estimated at 630 billion VND.

The information was released by the Hanoi Department of Tourism in a report on August 4 about the organization of the program "Blackpink World Tour 2023". During Blackpink's two shows at My Dinh Stadium, about 170,000 visitors came to Hanoi, of which more than 30,000 were international visitors. About 65% of international visitors stayed, mainly from markets such as China, Korea, Japan, the US, the UK, France, India, Taiwan (China), and Australia.

The number of visitors to the program at My Dinh National Stadium is estimated at 70,000, including 3,000 international visitors. Vietnamese visitors mainly come from Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Da Nang and Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa). Regarding international visitors, visitors from mainland China account for the largest proportion, followed by Canada, Hong Kong (China), Australia, Thailand, Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Singapore and the Philippines.

During the event, the number of visitors taking double-decker bus tours in the city “increased significantly.” The number of visitors booking online (not including on-site purchases) on July 29-30 increased by 15% compared to the previous days.

In July, Hanoi had 3,756 tourist accommodation establishments with 70,218 rooms, including 603 one- to five-star hotels (accounting for 16.1% of total accommodation establishments and 36.3% of total rooms).

During Blackpink's performance in Hanoi, the room occupancy rate of hotels near My Dinh Stadium increased by 20% compared to previous weekends. The number of searches for rooms in Hanoi during these two days through international booking sites such as Agoda was 10 times higher than the previous week. The room occupancy rate of the hotel sector in July is estimated at 60.8%, up 19.2% compared to the same period in 2022.

Tourist attractions also recorded a growth of about 15-20% compared to the same period last weekend. Statistics for the three days (July 28-30) showed that the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam welcomed more than 9,600 visitors, the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long welcomed more than 8,000 visitors, and Bao Son Paradise welcomed 7,000 visitors.

The Hanoi Department of Tourism assessed the program as successful and proposed that the City People's Committee direct relevant units to support businesses with financial capacity and prestigious international brands to organize international cultural, sports and tourism events in the area.
