Of the more than 80 countries she has visited, there are five destinations that American travel blogger Chloe Jade feels require caution when visiting alone.
Chloe Jade is an influential travel blogger in the US. She currently produces digital content while traveling the world , having visited over 80 countries. In an interview with Insider, Chloe shared her experiences from her travels and identified five places she feels are "less safe and that solo travelers should be wary of."
Pattaya, Thailand
"There are many great places to visit in Thailand, but Pattaya is not a wholesome tourist destination for the majority," said Chloe Jade. The female tourist stated that it is nothing more than an Asian-style "red light district," attracting a segment of male tourists who come only to satisfy their personal needs. This made her feel that women's value is not respected.

Jade shared that she generally feels safe when traveling to Asian countries and that "Pattaya was a pleasant surprise" for her. The blogger commented that other destinations in Thailand are worth visiting, but she would avoid Pattaya next time.
Belgrade, Serbia
Belgrade in Serbia is the "least safe" place Chloe has ever felt while traveling. "Maybe it's partly because I'm American," she said. Chloe shared that when locals found out she was from the US, they reacted quite hostilely. This happened so often that she hesitated to reveal her nationality for fear it would easily provoke a reaction in Belgrade.
On one occasion, the blogger was sitting in the back seat of a taxi and overheard the driver confessing how much he hated America. Chloe felt quite frightened because she was traveling alone at the time. Before arriving in Belgrade, the blogger had visited the Balkans without any problems.
Paris, France
Chloe had a terrifying experience with a local man in Paris. She recounted being "lured" out for drinks by him, and upon returning to her rented room, she felt unwell, breaking out in cold sweats as if she had been "drugged." Chloe felt "lucky" to have escaped from that man.

"The reason I included Paris on this list is because movies have romanticized the city too much. Like other megacities around the world, Paris always has its dangers, and women should be cautious when traveling alone."
Marrakesh, Morocco
Although Marrakesh is a fascinating tourist destination and worth visiting at least once in a lifetime, Chloe believes it also has some less-than-safe corners. Marrakesh is made up of narrow, winding alleys, which can feel intimidating if you walk alone. Chloe has encountered several men with aggressive appearances while walking in the alleys.

The blogger said she had traveled to many places in the Middle East where women's rights were not respected, but she felt safe there because these countries had many areas reserved for women that men were not allowed to enter. "It's not like that in Morocco," Chloe said.
Kingston, Jamaica
Chloe felt comfortable for most of her time in Jamaica. However, she was frequently warned by locals about places that were unsafe for tourists. For example, after visiting several local markets, she received a lot of feedback from locals that those places were generally unsafe and that newcomers should avoid them.
"I really enjoy the markets, but at the same time I feel I have to be extra cautious in unsafe public places. At night, anything bad can happen," Chloe shared.
